RWHP is very tricky man. You can lose alot of horsepower through your drivetrain.
That's why my truck can beat alot of these AWD Chevy Trailblazers with 280 horsepower stock, because they lose so much of that horsepower transfering it from the crank to the wheels going through all that computerized AWD stuff.
It's hard for me to guess on what yours will be, but I'd prefer to be under than over. I look at it this way: Your truck is 202 horsepower stock, plus maybe 20 additional with your mods (you can't go buy what the manufacturer tells you their aftermarket product will do, they always lie), plus the 50 hp from your charger, would give you 275 aprox.
Your going to lose about 10-15% through your drivetrain, so that brings you down to about 230 or so RWHP. So I guess that's my estimate.
According to the numbers Ive been told, the SC outputs 80-100 HP. So if you figure 205 HP stock, plus the 20 you guess for mods, then 100 for the SC, thats 325 hp at the fly...take off your 18% (between 15-20) and that leaves you with 266 RWHP. I think, and I could be wrong, that you assumed rwhp for the SC when you were adding things up, then you took out loss in the drivetrain.
This is pretty close to how I sum it up. I look at the loss as being transmission specific really. I saw it put like this;
5spd = 50hp loss
4sp auto = 65hp loss
5sp auto = 70hp loss
I assumed 25 hp gain from my mods, 80 for SC (lowest on their range) and 205 stock. Thats 310 fly HP. lose the 50 hp as stated above, and that leaves 260rwhp......Like you said, its hard tofigure out, and there is no exact way to do it. So, I just hope I can smoke those damn mustangs and 5.'s...I dont expect to be a lightning killer or anything...Although that would be awesome.
That's not right. It says that my truck only make 168 HP at the crank when it was new.
4500 pounds at 18.4 seconds brand new. 168 HP?? I don't think so.
Maybe the track scale is off and my truck actually weighs more. I think I'll re-weigh it Friday night. I might even race it all jacked up too. Hmmmm low 20's I bet
Actually...It states that it isnt 100% and the numbers could be off...IE Having a 4400 pound truck, you would need 227 rwhp to pull a 16.0 That is with an absolute PERFEC?T run....know what Im sayin?
Your 50hp number came from :
Most superchargers claim to add 50% more hp.
So, if you have 202hp, you will gain 101 which will give you 303+20( Mods) = approx 323 hp @ the flywheel. 323- 81 (25% powertrain loss) = 242rwhp.
But all engines act a bit different depending on tuning, cylinder seal, etc.
Add the intercooler, and that number should improve some.
But until you get it on the dyno, it's all bench racin'.
And that's funny about the thread issue on the colder plugs, I have often used colder plugs in my Stang when running NOS and they always had the same threads as the stockers. Just different length bodies.
I darn sure wouldn't want to add a bunch of cylinder pressure with a power adder and then use plugs with 1/2 of the threads!!! I like to keep my plugs in the engine. Especially with an aluminum headed 4.2L!!!!
