Just had my truck in the dealer for the CPS. He suggested I make an appointment to get my injectors "flushed" by some special machine. Cleans and lubes them, he says, and they recommend it every 30k.
Anyone had this done? Is it needed, does it make a difference, would you recommend it?
We offer the BG Fuel Injection Service for both gas and Diesel engines. I did my 97 Shortly after purchasing it and really didn't notice much difference in the way it ran. I've had customers tell me they noticed a seat of the pants difference in driveability though. I have noticed a difference in power on my gas engines after doing the flush. I think it's a good service but is a little pricey.
Probably, the machine we use is hooked into both fuel pressure and return lines and runs a ton of solution through. We run it a minimum of 30 minutes then replace the fuel filter because they sometimes plug up after the service.
If mine isnt broke --- I dont fix it. I have 78k on the clock of my 2000 and no problems with injectors. I just run some stanadyne thru it once in a while. or Howes fuel treatment. (hehehe, this ought to open a can of worms)
My PSD had been running rough the last week and brought it in to get it checkout for codes... Bad injector, itcost me $723 to replace the injector and $114 to check it out....Ouch!!!

I had the same problem awhile back (number 8 was bad). I took it to Ford and the wanted $650, so I paid them the $80 diagnose and took it to a local deisel shop and they did it for ~$450. Didn't save much overall, but felt good about not donating anything extra to the dealer.
