That's interesting. You'd think that by the '90's there would have been room for any Ford alternator of any vintage. They were using 1G's, 2G's and even 3G's on certain applications by the nineties on the other engines. My '93 had a 3G on it already. But that was one of the early models I believe, which was an F150 with 5.8W in it.
Or are you saying that you wanted to go even larger than the 95a model? Sorry if I misunderstood.
I like the old 1G large case alternators, and have them on both my '71 302 and '79 400. But eventually will install 3G's as the others fail. If they ever do! Those large-case 1G's seem to last a long time at least in my experience.
And thanks for the link. I've even heard of that company, but it's been half of forever since I thought about them. It's a cool little device. Think I'll stick with regular regulators, when I'm running a 1G, but you never know. Might find a use for one of them thar clever devices at some point.
the voltage reg kit in the link I posted was what I used on the stock alt I was running.... but when I wanted to add dual electric fans and an amp to the stereo, I upgraded to a 3g 95 amp model. wanted to go with more amps but that alternator case was larger and would not fit in my accessory drive...which is a stock serpentine type drive from a 90s 460.
Looking online, it appears that there are multiple alternators available for 1990s 460 with serp setup. I’m running a 130a 3G on my 460. It came with a serp pulley that I swapped out for a v-belt pulley.
