Day 2 no shift issues, definitely shifts differently then I’ve experienced since owning the truck. Not 1/2 shifting in 2nd (think that was TC locking up). Boy I hope this is it!
That sounds very promising. Super odd, just in general to have them fail, but what's strange is, you say the seller had just installed a new trans controller, right? Just goes to show, never rule out anything.

Yeah, it's funny how often the problem turns out to be something that we just rule out as "No way that could be it".

No that was never replaced, I’m definitely feeling good about this last item. Thinking whatever power surge fried my alternator damaged the TECA or the alternator doing an Epstein took it out with it

I didn't rule it out, but I placed the odds very, very low.

Just keep this in mind:
The odds of a poor connection (corroded wire/bad wire, poor pin connection) causing code 99 = 95%
The odds of a failed solenoid pack 4%
The odds of a failed TECA 1%
Hey everyone, just wanted to report back that trucks continued to run great since that computer swap, safe to say this one’s resolved and can be put to rest. Wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the continued support and tons…and I mean tons of knowledge shared. Big shout out to FORDF250HDXLT & Mark Kovlski, thanks boys!
Now I can move o to some minor repairs that have been patiently waiting on the back burner, leaking PS pump and I want to convert to an electric fuel pump. Cheers all
It's not needed, save maybe.... well if I lived in Alaska or some place where it was -20F often, ok. You know what, I'd want a fuel filter heater, but I wouldn't frig with that oem leak prone crap and risk my trans power or my engine from running because of air in the system, I would buy one of those universal fuel filter heater wraps and wire it up with a fused relay, and a toggle switch in the cab, so on that -20F or lower days I could have that bit extra fuel anti-gel protection.
I lived in AK for years, they adjust fuel with kerosene every winter, so I never had issues with my 94 idi Manuel 4x4, just battery and block heaters, and good glow plugs did the trick.
Hey all, just wanted to report in from FL where the wife & I have been enjoying the sun. Transmission has been great, and I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone’s help & encouragement getting that PIA issue resolved. Even took some time while parked at my friends house to throw in new shocks on all 4 corners and some airbags on the rear.
Next things on my to do list are converting to electric fuel pump, relocating the fuel filter to the frame, and getting this slooooooooow zombie turbo’d!
I’d love any advice on the turbo part if anyone wants to share, my biggest concern being EGT’s. I have a feeling since I’m so heavy I will be spooling boost ore often than not. Want to keep my motor from melting at all cost. Cheers!
I am also wanting to turbo my ambulance. I have been looking into remote mounting one in the exhaust flow just behind the joining point behind the y pipe and putting an air filter in the compartment above. Not a lot of time lately to pursue it but looking for a good turbo/fabricator man here in Chattanooga. Thinking about adding a leaf to my rears, would love to hear how your air bags worked out. This ambulance used to have them front and rear. The rears are jus gone and the fronts are in place but totally dry rotted.
I hadn’t even considered doing a remote mounted turbo, now you got me thinking. Know of anyone who’s done that yet? Re the airbags, I like them a lot, though I’m already planning on swapping the ones I installed for a pair of double bellow ones so I can get more lift. These ones only netted me 1" lift on the rear, I was hoping to be able to use them to level the van when parked on a slope/uneven ground. I did use a pair of airbag cradles so the suspension can get full negative travel. I’ll report back once I’ve had them in use longer and made that planned changes.
You guys are standing right where I was headed back in 2020 on my long way home on a road trip (among a long list of other stops) but the pandemic started shutting everything down and I headed directly home. Saved for another round about/ long way home, road trip I guess. I've been down there a few times, years back, but I don't think anywhere south of Miami.
I think Hypermax is your only option for a bolt in kit, for a van today.
