Grounded MAP sensor?
Going through electrical in my new to me excursion. When removing the cold side intercooler pipe I noticed that this wires is spliced and connected to a chassis ground. Not sure who did it or when it was done. I asked my dad, who owned the truck before me and bought it new, and he can't remember doing it. It's all corroded and was done pretty poorly. Would this be for a tune? The truck had an EEC tuning module on it, that I think was made by Van Aaken? Would a tune require the map sensor to be grounded? I pulled the chip, just trying to figure out why this hack job is in here.
You may be able to use some DeOxIt to clean up the wire and liquid electrical tape and repair the wire. I believe you can get a new pigtail for the MAP sensor if you want to go that route.
I can post the pinpoint test from the Ford Service Manual if you want to check it for functionality further than what is observed with FORScan, AE or TorquePro.
Easy fix!
