I just received a new Mishimoto transmission cooler and will have it installed in the next couple weeks. Another accessory I need is a trans temp gauge. Even though I won't have temperature history, I'll know what I have with the new cooler.
Studying and shopping has shown the best option is the ISSPRO R17599 EV is the best option however the price is pretty high for a single gauge. I'm thinking Glowshift may be an alternative but have seen a lot of bad reviews on their gauges.
I'd like some opinions on ISSPRO vs Glowshift. I'd pick up a good pre-owned gauge if I could find one. If anyone has one, PM me please.
Also for mounting locations, I like the overhead gauge pod, sits over the rear view mirror. I'll probably get the three gauge pod. Does anyone have this option and how do you like it? Pictures would be helpful.
I have a MOON Temperature gauge out in the garage, complete with the long hard line from the sensor.....
it used to be on my brother's race car back in the 50s and 60s, keep it as a memory of him.
he left us "voluntarily" in the downturn of the late 80s when the oil business went flat, and his Race Car shop business just came to a stop....
I found the Mishimoto cooler on Amazon for $245 including tax and free shipping. Just had it installed today and took it for a 300 mile test run with a friends 57 Chevy in tow. Driving over the Grapevine between Los Angeles and Bakersfield was effortless. My ISSPro EV2 transmission temperature gauge and 3-gauge pod overhead console arrived today but didn’t get it in for today’s drive. I can only assume everything is working great but don’t have any ideas of temperature. My hopes are to have it installed in the next couple weeks.
I’ve read many articles about where the sensor should go and popular opinion suggests where the test port is located. The claims are that it’s a much better place than in the pan.
Any thoughts or recommendations from the experienced experts?

I have pictures of my setup somewhere in here. I’ll see if I can find the thread…..
Edit: I did a quick search using the term “pod” and I got a ton of results, one was your thread from a few years ago. I didn’t find my pics but the search turned up a lot of results.
