I understand that fact, my 97 is the “newest” vehicle I have owned, I have just read stories of new pumps in these installs failing and niggling problems like the last one.
Mechanical has so many potential leak points! I did larger wiring and such, so far so good after near 40k
Pretty sure Walbro had bad run of pumps as mine took a dump. Replacement is fine. TI Automotive now makes their pumps, I would be curious if all inline Bosch are Diesel rated like their 044.
But yep, after 30 years everything is questionable
It will unless you're running some seriously big sticks. I'd recommend picking up the "bare" Bosch pump (the Motorcraft unit is just a rebadged version with some plastic) and buying the correct hardware for it. The assembly comes out quite a bit cheaper that way. You can even go straight to an AN fitting on the outlet (I did).
