Heading up to Bravo this morning. Making a stop at Costco on the way. Lightening fires all around Bravo but no threats to our place.

Trail fire from Thielsen View boat ramp. We saw a lightening strike in that same area a 3 or 4 years ago. That’s in the Thielsen Wilderness Area. No roads or machinery allowed. A couple of years ago the Lodge and resort nearly went up in smoke.
Been finishing up some paperwork for the IRS this morning and want to get it to the post office today. Post Office here is only open from 1100-1400. Have to make some copies yet and make some digital images and its all done....for now.

Lots of higher level smoke haze. Not affecting us too much here at ground level.
We aren't in any danger here, but we are surrounded by wildfires. Hwy 97 was closed last night 8 miles north of us all the way into the south end of La Pine because of the Jackpine fire. It's reopened now. I was thinking it was a good thing we had plenty of groceries on board.
Got the IRS stuff done yesterday, sent the 503 into Ogden electronically and the 23 into Kansas City, MO. by snail mail. Now the waiting game to see what is going to happen. I'm pretty sure the executor of the estate and the CPA made some mistakes which has created the problem with the IRS. The IRS seems to have lost a lot of money....or have they? First, I get a notice saying they redid the taxes we sent in and zeroed out the advanced payments. We owed that plus interest and penalties. CPA was supposed to straighten it out but didn't. Then we got a second notice that said they were going to file liens on the property and seize or place a hold on bank accounts. The same day as that notice arrived, another notice arrived saying that they had the money sitting there that wasn't claimed on the 1040 filing (line 26 which they - the IRS - zeroed out) and did we want it refunded by check, electronically or credited to another account. You just have to love the IRS. And, it seems ridiculous that they can arbitrary just refigure / refile a person's taxes for them. If they are going to do it, why do we have to do it? Anyway, I hope that is all behind us AND they owe us $13.00 by their own figures. One thing that really tics me off is that the accountant has charged us an extra $176 to straighten out their mistakes.
Friday, I cleaned up the neighbors trees and stacked logs for later. Got everything done by 1330ish. Got a big pile of limbs to burn later this fall. Yesterday we hit the river in the afternoon with a friend that has never been on the Santiam. Always fun to go by those boats with the spinny things that are hanging out at the mouth and we just keep going. She's getting pretty skinny right now so other than a few floaters and a couple other jetboats it's pretty quiet up there. Almost made it Jefferson but it seems the float from above to I-5 must be pretty popular and it's tiresome waiting for all the idiots that like to float in the channel. Not much going on today other than waiting for the flooring guy to put the floor back in and we have a retirement party to hit for a friend that did his time in corrections at polk co.
Lots lot lightning and thunder at our place from 0130 to 0900. Got some rain and hail.
Camera's picked up and ambulance and support vehicle come down the driveway this morning. Turned around and headed straight out. No code so it seemed a non-emergency type situation. Just heard back from one of the people in the area and the ambulance was looking for him. Turns out the batteries on his pacemaker were wearing out. He's going to get a new one.
Had some deer hanging out most of the night. Some of time in the yard and some of the time down in the meadow.
