2 years ago, I went with wally world because he is on every street corner.
and yup, always on a Battery Tender, always. warm or cold.
I've been running those for 2 years now. Good battery for the price. At some point I will upgrade to AGM units even if they aren't the high-high end EnerSys built units like Odyssey or Batteries Plus. I paid about $250 for an Interstate 24M-AGM-A "Dual Purpose" from the local marine shop to put on the trailers I move as a breakaway/house battery while it's it's being transported to be legal and it's nice having a totally clean and sealed battery. I don't like how flooded ones will sweat in the summer.

I keep a 5 gallon bucket upturned over my RV battery, the sun's UV rays are a real killer for batteries.
I had one Deep Cycle on it, don't remember why it failed, probably my fault, thought it was on a battery tender, the a/c cord got pulled loose.
some batteries definitely do NOT like to go into the Deep Freeze, I have an OFF Grid battery that states to not let it go below about 60*F ???
Those EnerSys ones are almost $400 apiece now. I like shiny fancy truck parts as much as the next guy but $800 for a pair of batteries is getting pretty extravagant. $500 for a pair of the Interstates I could maybe justify at some point, and I doubt there would be any noticeable real world performance differences other than the EnerSys ones would maybe last longer.

Maybe, but I'm not anxious to spend money today, to wait to see if they will.
Just passed 7 years on my Northstar AGM batteries for the truck and they are holding strong at twice the lifespan I would get out of a FLA. No regrets...
Chris (KO76), check out Weize AGM for the other vehicles or equipment. I installed one in the VW a couple months ago after getting it for $100 less than the parts stores AGM batteries. Bought on Amazon, but you can get them directly from Weize too.
I only did a small amount of research, but what I saw gave me enough confidence in my choice to go for it, especially at that price. I now need to replace the FLA that I put in the Escape a 4 years ago for my mom, but Weize does not offer a 96R size. Enersys Odyssey is $350, but I will see if Batteries+ has a X2 AGM, or whatever they are called.
I’m at 5+ years on Walmart everstart maxx group 65 that cost $99 getting drawn down to nothing while running a v-plow, lights, dual electric motor 2.5 yard spreader, etc. truck sat for 6 months and still fired up fine ( after a hit to the starter with a hammer lol)

You have exactly the opposite luck I have with FLA batteries. Consider yourself lucky my friend and play the lottery often!

Ive got one in my cart as we speak to keep an eye on $ fluctuations, thank you for the tip

I am wondering if there is i big difference in pre & post covid FLA's. Especially those made in 2020-2022ish.
Guess I'll find out for myself.
Those 2019 Deka's made it almost 6 yrs, I had a set of oem batts in a 1997 f-350 that made it until winter of 2004.
The FLA Interstates I had lasted 5.5 years of typical use. I'm only at 2 years on the Walmarts so I'd expect another couple years out of them at least before electing to replace them before they die. AGM for sure then.
