My last set of Walmart neverstarts I got right at 5 years out of them. It was a month or 2 shy of 5 years. I wouldn't be hesitant about going with the interstates from Costco. Especially for the price.

That's another consideration. I bought a Jeep with the Walmart battery in it last January and that battery is now over 5 years old and still going strong.

I've had 2 sets in my truck now. Last set I got was around 100 a piece. Probably have went up a touch since then. But I've had good luck with them and easy to get replaced literally anywhere if needed.

@petrokiller recently installed FLA from Walmart, I'll let him share his experience in his own words.

Our 2016 Escape is on it's second battery including the OEM and is now in need of another battery. I will NOT be wasting my time and money on a FLA battery. I am cursed when it comes to those damn things. AGM and lithium are the opposite end of the spectrum for me thus far and I'm OK with paying more to save on time, effort, headaches and the warranty run around.

I had a pair of Costco Interstates last nine years when I lived in temperate climate Seattle. Now that I'm in AZ, the heat cuts their lifespan down to two years if I'm lucky.

Walmart actually has everstart agm now. I have not ever used one though. I think the group 65 is around 170ish.

I've gone to AGM on 3 vehicles now but I'm thinking I don't want to spend $500 on batteries for a vehicle that doesn't get used much. I think part of the reason I am getting 5 years with FLA is I keep them on a maintainer and the truck is stored indoors with moderate temperatures. I'm thinking I might be able to get 5 years on the Costco Interstates, although I really like those CAT batteries. Interstate is really nothing special, they just buy from various battery manufacturers so you could get the same battery as a Walmart or other brand. It goes to show what name brand recognition can do for a product, for years I've heard people swear how good Interstates were like Interstate made their own special battery or something.

They are out of stock, also out of stock at Costco. The guy at Costco said they haven't been able to get group 65 AGMs for about a year now. Also I wanted to stay with 850 CCA. I wonder if an H-7 would fit? edit: nevermind, the terminals are wrong

@akcooper9 , how have those CAT batteries you bought for your first 7.3L been treating you? I assume the Motorcraft were for the new to you 7.3L?

That makes sense and I wish I were not FLA cursed. I hope you find the best solution for your application, financially and operationally.

Never tried the cat batteries. Once I figured out how to get Motorcraft batteries with a 3 year warranty for the same price as CAT or better I went motorcraft.

So for that price they shipped them to Texas and only charged a $6 core?
edit: nevermind I just saw you bought them in Texas

If you search ford parts online for local dealers in your area you will find much lower prices. Take that in to the parts department or orielys and they will price match.
