I guy I met in boot camp once said to me, "I like my meat rare, the rarer the better. If you can put a band-aid on it and it's able to walk away, it's perfect."
Got a call from the mechanic about the truck yesterday. He says it needs spark plugs. He also says it will cost about $60 to replace them. I don't know where he is buying spark plugs for $60 because when I checked Autozone and O'Reilly, they are just under $100 and that is with my veteran discount. So, I'll pick some up today and take them over now that my scooter is mobile again.

I guess pricing for spark plugs can be all over the board. It all depends on where you look.
I wanted to buy the E3 plugs at AutoZone but they were copper, not platinum, so I went with the Motorcraft. When I showed up at the mechanic's house he told me they had already bought the sparkplugs. So I took them back for a refund. He also told me that he has a lot of connections due to being the head mechanic at the Church rescue mission. So I'm sure he paid less than $100 for them. I am guessing they will take it in to be retested today, so, with any luck, I may be able to get it back today. If so, I'll head to the DMV tomorrow morning, to get the disabled plates, and tags. Then straight to a used tire shop for some rear tires. The scooter lift is scheduled to be shipped out tomorrow, but I don't know how long it will take to get here as i don't know where it is coming from. I am hoping it will get here by Friday, but that might be a bit optimistic. Even if it did, I would need to wait for the tech guys to make an appointment.
I'm not an expert, but I believe that all spark plugs have a copper core. The platinum and iridium material is only on the electrodes. With the design of e3, it wouldn't matter because the tip surrounds the electrode.
Not that it matters to most people, but I think that the AutoLite and Motorcraft are the same, made on the same assembly line. AutoLite has a rebate. AutoLite always has a rebate. The lat time I got spark plugs, the rebate was more than I paid for the plugs. They paid me to take the plugs for free.
Jim, Sounds like good news on the truck! I bet your getting pretty anxious now that the truck is just about road worthy. Do you still need to buy tires for it?
Yes, I am chomping at the bit. LOL I still need to buy tires. I am debating on whether to go get them first, then do the DMV, or go to the DMV first and then get tires. I get paid Thursday, so I am guessing that is when they will bring the truck over. I have not heard from them about the smog test yet, so I don't know if they have taken it there or not. I do know they were installing the plugs on Saturday, so I assumed they would take it in today, but no word yet. After the DMV and tire shop I will see if I can get the AC working too.
I don't know how much used tires are. I would worry about used tires being safe. Retreads are probably safer. New tires are not that expensive, if you are not buying aggressive tread tires. The online retailers aren't too bad. They ship the tire to the installer. Some of the online tire sellers have their own local store.
