59° this morning, feels pretty good after the high 70s the last few nights. They are predicting a high of 78° for today, hopefully we are over our 90+ days for the rest of the summer.
@Fat Diesel For someone that knew what they were doing your dads Old Okland looks like a great start.
Yesterday was a pita day. My friend's mechanic had his brothers come over and take the truck to their house to repair. halfway there it stops running, and they can't get it jumpstarted. So, I call for roadside assistance from USAA. They gave me an eta of 99 to 129 minutes! Three hours later, they still had not arrived. So, I called them to find out there were 3 other tows in front of me, and I was next on the list. The brothers had picked up the truck at 10:30am, and they finally called at 3:10pm to tell me it was finally at their house. Unreal. I told them to take their time working on it. All of us were pretty upset by that time.
Working nights for so many years, I no longer crave specific meals at specific times. I discovered that I never crave milk and cereal. Which saves me a fortune in cereal cost. But I do get weird when I want tri tip for the first meal of the day.
I'm waking up at noon and having a beer, like a bum.
My uncle used to tell the chef to put the meat on the grill until it sizzles, flip it over until it sizzles and then serve it. The chef thought he was crazy, but he ate most his meat that way. He is no longer with us as he died after contracting pneumonia in the hospital where he was staying as a result of a bad asthma attack.
Since my quality of life is reduced to meaningless coitus with women I feel nothing for, who are only using me for a free meal; I contacted Amazon. I pay for a prime Membership. About $140 annually. A component to being a member is the benefit of what they call "Prime Shipping" or "Prime Delivery". You also get "Prime Pricing", which may or may not be lower than other prices. Along with Prime Video, which has children's content but no adult content. Every time they miss the promised date, I did not get what I paid for. Delivery is not free. I give Amazon $140 for "free delivery". When a package is late, lost, damaged........ I did not receive my Prime Membership. Amazon refunded $90 for the loss of one of my Prime Membership components.....
Happy Thursday Nor Cal. I am finally mobile again! 15 minutes before I was to be picked up yesterday for my churches VBS (Vacation Bible School-a week-long event held every summer for kids) by a church member, there was a knock at the door and the vendor who installs scooter wheels was there. So, I was able to cancel the ride and go to church myself. Now, i can save money at Walmart again by going there myself without paying a minimum of $35 for them to deliver food to me plus the $7.95 fee.
That tri tip looks like you showed it a polaroid of a fire! My mom's the same way, she likes it pretty much raw. The sizzling comment is pretty spot on for me. I know something is ready to come off the Oklahoma Joe when it's sizzling. The exception is ribs. Beef ribs need to cook for a long time.
It keeps getting better. Got a call from the mechanic this morning asking if I wanted him to smog test the truck. He says all the lights are off, and he currently has a new battery in it. I told him yes, and that the Red Carpet I took it too has a retest fee of $25. He said he would drive it to reset the codes, then take it in. So that is looking good. All the fees have been paid and the DMV has proof of insurance on file, so once the truck passes i can go down and get my disabled plates and stickers. I am a happy camper. I'll be even happier if nothing goes wrong with the truck before it passes smog.
That's a beautiful grill. I love the design of the offset firebox and chimney drawing the smoke through the chamber. I am sure that you make great ribs.
