Where's the summer? I'll tell you where the summer is:
When it gets above 104 or so, my AC goes into swamp cooler mode. It becomes ineffective. I sweat in 86-degree temps inside. . I have mentioned this to the manager, but she just says the same thing about hers. I think the owner needs to get better ones. Especially since he keeps raising the rent all the time.
I'm beginning to have a love/hate relationship with my truck. Since my scooter is unavailable, I took the truck to the DMV. Ran fine no problems at all on the way there. I was able to get in and out quickly because unlike the Blackstone DMV (which is closed for renovations until Aug 30) the appointment/disabled line had nobody in it. I got a 45-day permit for no cost. It is good until September 17th. That should be enough time to get the truck to pass smog. So then I start to head out of the parking lot, and sure enough chitty chitty bang bang all over again. Turn it off and back on, smooth as butter. Or actually smooth as it is going to get with two bad coil packs. It runs fine until a block from my apartment, and again it acts up. I turned it off, and then on again, and it was fine. So I headed to the lowest priced gas station in the area, and got about 2 miles from my apartment and it did it again. This time however, it would not start. Dead battery. I had pulled into the corner oil change business parking lot, and asked if they could jump start it. They brought out a battery booster, but it was no good. Still nothing but clicking. So I called roadside service provided by my insurance company. He cam out and tried it also with a battery booster. No go. Then he connected jumper cables to his truck and mine, and we got it started. Since I didn't trust it to start again at the gas station, I just drove it home. I will have to wait for the scooter wheel to be installed before I can take the battery to O'Rielly auto parts and have it charged up and tested. So now I am totally stranded. Can't ride the scooter, can't drive the truck.
A reman engine would be nice, but at $2,800 it would take a long time to save up for. I am going to see if I can get the timing chain/tensioner replaced for now, but even that requires saving money on my part. And it has to pass smog first.
take the battery to O'Rielly auto parts and have it charged up and tested.
When car batteries are not routinely cycled, the voltage drops. Cars & motorcycles need to be driven regularly for the alternators to charge the batteries. Once the voltage takes a severe drop, sometimes, the battery will be unable to take and hold a charge. A lot of motorcycles do not get ridden regularly. My Harley actually came with a Battery Tender because the manufacturer knows that motorcycles sit idle. My pickup is not a daily driver. When I haven't driven the truck for a week, I have a NOCO battery charger which works very well. When I bought it, I bought the "used" version on Amazon for $22. The box did not have plastic shrink wrap. Maybe someone bought it, used it, and returned it. Everything was in the box. And I cheaped out and saved $8. Sometimes the Amazon Warehouse has pretty good stuff.
I have a multimeter I can use to check the battery. However, I don't have a battery charger. With the scooter disabled, I have no way of taking the battery out and putting it in my apartment to use a battery charger even if I had one. I am basically apartment bound at the moment, and unable to do anything except sit here and play computer games, or watch the thermometer go over 100 degrees again. I cannot see my truck from my apartment. I wish I lived in the apartment closest to my truck then I could buy a battery charger and long extension cord and charge it up. Of course, then I would have to sit at my window watching it to make sure nobody walks off with the battery charger. LOL
The coil packs and cam position sensor are due to arrive today. I have not checked the method of delivery, but if they come in the mail, I will have the caregiver check when she gets here. They were bought on eBay so I am guessing USPS.
I expected a delivery from Amazon via UPS a few days ago. It never came. Looking at the Amazon tracking and UPS tracking....... the package made it's way from SoCal, all the way to the South San Francisco UPS Hub, then it went back to SoCal, and it's finally back here. No guarantee that I will actually receive the package. It shipped last Friday. I'll be lucky if it gets to my door by this Friday. They must have me confused with Jim. How did my package take a road trip up & down The State twice?

Unreal. I think a Pony Express rider would have gotten it to you quicker.
As for the Taco Bell victory, I am so relieved I can now say Taco Tuesday! Maybe now I can get some sleep at night.
Amazon finally delivered my package. I was expecting the tracking number to show that my package went to an Asian guy in Fresno. It went to South San Francisco. I live in San Francisco. A different city. I contacted Amazon. A refund was issued. Then sometime in the evening, after business hours, a box was dropped off in front of my house. I don't know who brought it over. Maybe the person who received it in South San Francisco. Nobody rang the bell. I went outside to get something from my car, and there was a box on the sidewalk.
Sounds familiar. I ordered a USB extension cable. Amazon told me it was handed to the USPS carrier today. Since I am stranded in my apartment until my scooter wheel is replaced, I figured I would have the caregiver pick it up tomorrow. Then around 5pm or so I check my email, and there is the notice from Amazon that it was delivered and a photo of my doorstep with the package on the welcome mat. Nobody knocked so I had no idea it was dropped off in front of my door. I haven't seen the Asian guy in quite some time; however, I haven't been out lately. I can walk to my truck, but since it won't start there is no reason to do so. The mailboxes are on the other side of the manager's apartment/office. Too far for me to hobble to.
