P0283 Mystery Code- Changed Injector

Hey Guys, I have a 2006 F350 6.0L with 92,000 miles on it. A week ago I got a P0283 code Cylinder 8 injector circuit high. Truck shook under acceleration and the idle was a little off. Replaced the injector and all was kumbaya for about 20 minutes of driving and then the code came back with the same issues. Dug back down to the injector to check connections and the hold down torque. All seemed ok. No broken rocker arms or anything strange. Any ideas why it was ok and then failed again?

I would start with checking the injector harness.
I don't have a copy in PDF form. You want to look up Pinpoint test "P".

Good question

You may also have an issue with the circuit within the FICM.

I copied the description- Received from KT performance.
Item: Ford Motorcraft Fuel Injector, Ford (2004.5-10) 6.0L Power
Stroke, Stock (4C3Z-9E527-BRM)
I took it to a shop but I'll update when something positive happens

Just to be careful - check your fuel pressure. #7 is usually the first to go when fuel pressure gets weak, but #8 isn't far behind.

The official fix was in fact the FICM. One single driver failed which translated to a bum injector. Seems to be a oddity. Thanks for the help guys.

I was wondering if you did an injector buzz test with the old FICM? And if so did #8 click?

The initial buzz before startup had a different sound- like a dead spot. I believe an official one was done that showed #8 not buzzing. Then they checked power to the injector and saw it wasn't receiving it.

Normal rule of thumb has been that a single injector issue probably isn't the FICM, but clearly it can be.

Thank you for posting the conclusion.
