2023 General Chat......
Im to the point where I finished a large project this week and am getting to do a welding one.
All shop time is appreciated…
Joel, who was working with me told me I should go right out and by a lottery ticket. Told him I’d skip that because I didn’t want to jinks my luck.
Walked into Cabela’s at 0900, walked out pistol in hand 55 min later. Covered by a gift certificate, military discount & Cabela's Club points. No out of pocket ‘green’.
Sent a text off to my hunting and fishing partner who bought the exact same pistol just before Thanksgiving at BiMart in Lincoln City. He had to do the 30 day resubmit and as of Weds morning was still at 17.000. It really makes one wonder what in the heck kind of game they are playing in Salem.
We left Cabela’s & went over to Cracker Barrel for breakfast on the Gift Card we got for Christmas. Good food and excellent service today.

We haven't shot this one yet, and it may be a bit before we do unless I take it out to the ranch to shoot. With dogs and goats running all over the place that's not going to happen with the Barn Burm range. Our other range area out there is now doing duty as a duck pond.
Is your dad doing the two-finger squeeze (so called 'sling shot' method) or the palm over method (also called 'over the top') for racking the slide? I have noticed on this EZ the doing the TV movie type slide release lever method is not easy at all. Nearly impossible in fact. I don't know if that will loosen up with use or not. I don't usually use that method unless I'm testing things out. I always use the palm over method. Also that's the only method we teach.
So far, I'm kind of liking everything except the magazine capacity. But with compacts, there isn't anything you can do with that. The slide seems pretty easy to rack, but I'm not sure I see a tremendous amount of difference between it, the Body Guard, the 1911 or the Glock. The company claim is that it has and "EZ" to rack slide.

I have a Body Guard (Jackie's) and while it is more accurate than I expected, I hate the trigger and that the slide won't operate with the safety engaged. Also not a big fan of 380 in general and I'm thinking of getting a subcompact 9mm for her instead. I carry a M&P 9C which gives me 13 rounds and fits my hand well, and even though it's slightly wider than the Shield the grip is shorter so it seems easier to conceal for me. Plus it will take full size mags so I have a couple 17 round magazines in case I want more capacity. I like the M&P a lot more than the Glocks I owned.
I have been looking at something more compact to carry as the Glock 19 is not that small. Been kicking around a "pocket" pistol in .380. Ruger LCPII looks interesting as does the Glock 42.I thought the shield 2.0 might be nice but I want something small.

Well........You could take I5 down to Roseburg....Winston-Dillard exit actually and take Hwy 42 towards Coos Bay. Then take 242 (Aka Powers Hwy, AKS Rogue - Coquille Scenic Byway). South of Powers you begin a Forest Service Road that will take you down to Agnes - Illahe and then on down the River to Gold Beach. Just have to be careful - This time of year a snowmobile or snow cat would be very beneficial..

The only thing I can say about a lot of the current - modern pocket pistols is make sure you are happy with / can live with the trigger and trigger pull. DA only and one heck of a trigger pull. The Warden can't really use the Bodyguard I got for her. It takes 2 handed - using both trigger fingers for her to pull the trigger and its still a struggle.
This Smith 9 EZ we just bought, while bigger, can be easily shot and concealed pretty easily. And it is on sale at Cabela's through the 11th I believe.

Well, we got the Bodyguard and I ordered the replacement trigger. Got the new sear and trigger group in and to be honest, I can't see any difference. The replacement 'softer' set up was a complete waste of money in my opinion.
Yep, not a real fan of the .380, but if one wants a pistol that size, I'd really hate to be holding onto one with a 45 or 40 cal chambering when it went off.
