Found this truck on Craigslist for my Dad in 2013, he was looking for a flatbed to use on his property. It has been garage kept since he bought it but has had very little maintenance. He did have new batteries put in, tymar intake, 3"dp/4" exh & seat re-done with new headliner as well as front leaf spring bushings. Maybe 1500 miles put on it since 2013? I changed the oil/fuel filter two times and grease it once for him and that was really it being 3 hrs away i didnt have much time when i did see him. He wasn't really a mechanic type.
He passed in 21' and left the truck to me and I'm finally getting around to giving her some well deserved love. IT needs all fluids changed, coolant tested fine but looks kind of dingy. It has a slight shake at idle, up pipes leak and smells of slight raw fuel. Guessing injectors need some love. Ive got some core SD injectors I can send in for some 160/30 and a barely run reman motorcraft 17* HPOP i plan to put in. Probably one of the SD pump Efuel kits , reseal oil cooler etc etc etc. Similar to how i did my 01' & 03'.
For now i plan to get her mechanically sound. some ujoints looks tired and front axle joints have rustdust so i plan to go thru everything and replace with spicer life series joints and seals etc front and rear, brake hoses, flush, etc etc etc. Going to cut down the front aal to start with and maybe eventually do lowest possible SD spring RSK up front. Eventually either a kc drop in or t4 kit and maybe intercooler at some point.
RR wheel seal just started leaking and i pulled rear apart expecting the worst. some how i caught it before somewhat new brakes were trashed!! I never get lucky. Drums look amazing inside and shoes and hardware have not been in there very long at all!
First time this thing has been apart in at least almost 10 yrs
IF both sets of shoes were changed togeteher, then the RR self adjuster needs some love..... Most of the common lose plastic in the interior needs love from obs solutions. Eventually. 95 gallon l-tank
Thank yall.
Ive got scotseal rear wheel seals , brake hoses F & R, rear spicer life series ujoints and pinion/t-case seals on the way. Will go ahead and change rear diff oil. Hoping bearings look good.
I'll snap pictures when I change parts.
Next up will be tearing front apart to see what kind of shape everything is in. Front auto hubs are stuck and definitely need axle ujoints. We will see how spindle bearings, seals, wheel bearings etc look….
Yall have a good source for stock appearing headlights to replace the faded? Common upgrade?
30% deet off bug spray and some white old socks
spray lens until all wet and rub hard until dry with a clean sock, repeat with another sock until clear
I've got the exact same truck here with a bale bed on it that we feed cows with, same color and all.
Any interest in selling it?
Cool! have any pictures to share?
No plans to sell it in the future right now. I just sold my 89 to free up some time/space to give this one some love.

Thank you! I've enjoyed following your thread.
I havent had any spare time to allocate to the truck other than about an hour the other weekend. Installed ebay ash tray repair kit, also installed new trim around AC controls to replace the broken and husky floor mats. Threw rear tires back on so i can drive to my two post lift to put wheel seals etc in.
Left to install are driver side window controls bracket from OBS solutions, push pins for panel.
Im ready to get this truck back drivable so i can enjoy rowing gears again.
Slow day a work today, snapped a few pics of inside parts, & new door bracket.
Did a buzz test on injectors(they all sounded good, but got a p1298 at the end?) and set up PID's in forscan lite, so next time I drive it I can check a few things.
