But muh JDs power reliability report.

I also have a 2008 Tacoma 4x4 with the 6 cylinder engine. It was inherited so I’ve kept it as a commuter truck in a city that I visit often enough to justify keeping it. It’s a cool truck and I’ve put money into it as far as a lift, tires and swapping in the power hood. With 53k original miles it runs like new. I’ve had a few Toyota trucks through the years and reliability is never an issue however they are essentially useless when it comes to needing an actual “truck” to do work with.

Strange that I see Tacoma’s being used for work everyday.
Seems to be the case the world over.

Your definition of work and mine differ.

The little trucks can do 95% of the 'heaviest' loads most SDs will see. I did replace the stock rear 7.5" in this one with an Expy 8.8 after I tacoed the tube. Seems 2700 lbs payload is the limit of the 7.5".

Perhaps your definition of “work” differs from pretty much everyone else on the planet.

Not really. It’s just a question of why modern American truck companies insist on using garbage diesel diesel fuel systems. Is it on purpose?

Get back to me when a Tacoma can tow a 12000 pound fifth wheel, a 7000 pound trailer, haul a cord of wood or a yard of rock. Oh, and have four adults sitting comfortably while doing so. As you can see, my definition of work actually means work and not having a toy pretending to do “work”.

Are you saying that pulling the lawnmower trailer, 14' aluminum boat, or hauling around hunting dogs in a dog box isn't work? Honestly, that's the most I've ever seen a Tacoma do, other than being a commuter truck for people driving it back and forth to work. Not trying to make fun, just my observations.

You can thank the EPA for that.

Just a quick reminder...

This is a Ford truck forum, where we discuss Ford trucks, and compare competitive options to meet different needs.

It is one thing to berate Chevys, Rams, Toyotas, & Fords... but it is not okay to berate other FTE members on the forums.

Please talk about the trucks and the topics... not each other.

Thanks!

Thread re-opened.

Had an old short bed Ranger that I'd fill to the top with river rock. It would compress to the bump stops, but hauled that rock the 5 miles I needed to go.
