Because of our local hometown dealership I had contemplated a 2022 Duramax 3500….. but they’ve had no stock, and I REALLY wanted a Ford anyway…
So this week a new 22 3500 duality shows up on their lot, and tonight I pulled in to check it out. Hmmmmm…. I think I made the right decision LOL…. Omgosh, at least in my opinion that Chevy front end compared to the F450……. Yuck…..
I was close to a 3500 SRW as I liked the truck. GM doesn’t derate CCC for a short bed like Ford does. But these things kept me with Ford and know it was the right choice.
Updated motor and trans
Updated interior
More interior comfort
Ability to personalize (FORScan)
Honestly, I can’t tell you much about the drivetrain…. But the truck has always been so clunky looking to me….no flow to it. In the end I didn’t even drive one….
The newer Chevys are hideous....have been for a while honestly. Not even really a fan of dualies, but that is.....well I don't have words. The mirrors. These are easily their worst iteration of a once beautiful truck.Good Lord.
I test drove a 3500 SRW 6.6 gas. I bought a Ford. Plastic fit was bad on the Chevy. You couldn't get higher then 3.73's. Max towing was 4000 lbs less then my 7.3. The duramax was only 910 lbs more then my 7.3. Hauling was less in both engines. Then there is the RUST issue. My brothers Chevy (GMC) only three years before surface rust and 7 years till it rusted through under the doors. It's not just the Chevy is the UGLY step child, its they are behind in what matters most. Hauling, Pulling, and RUST!
I looked at a 2021 Chevy 3500 6.6 gas crew cab srw compared to my 2021 F350 SCLB SRW 7.3.
I've had two relatively trouble free trucks/SUVs in over 40 years of driving. Both were Fords.
I was on the verge of buying another Chevy this summer and got tired of the Chevy/GMC dealers jerking me around, baiting me to get me to the dealership and then trying to sell me a truck I didn't want.
So I started looking at Fords and the more I looked, the more I found that I liked and I ended up buying a new F250. I think I got a better truck.
Owned four Chevy trucks from 1979-2021. I tried to order a 2022 extended cab 2500HD but couldn’t. They weren’t excepting orders on extended cab Chevy’s or GMC’s just crew cabs due to the China virus and chip shortage.
Turns out it was a good thing. They forced my hand to called the Ford dealer and was able to order a 2022 F-250 super cab no problem, so I did.
Man! This F-250 is a monster compared to the GM 2500HD’s. It’s huge, tons of ground clearance. 7.3 and 10 speed way better than GM 6.6 gas and 6 speed. Wife was blown away how big and bad it is and how nice the interior is!
I bought a Ford because I am more of a Ford guy and because it won't rust, at least the body anyway. Here is a photo of an early-2000's Chevy 1500. This truck lives in VA where they get a snow or two a year so some salt, but not like the northern states see. Can't imagine why anyone up North would buy a Chevy.
my gm is leaving the house today. picking up a ford.
my 2020 has been in the shop for 68 days this summer/fall. the last 2 days it was in, they didn't fix the problem for the second time. i'm done
hopefully the ford will be better. my '17 was good for the first 18 months, then started having all kinds of problems. hopefully those were just first year issues 🤷🏻♂️
Good choice, Sir. I used to be a Chevy man until Ford came out with the current body style in '15. My son bought a '15 1/2 ton and I loved the new cabin. I waited until the '17 model year SD's came out & bought one in the fall of '16. Now I'm on my 3rd SD, 4th if you count the F550 in my business, & there's no way I'd go back. I'm not worried about the mechanical aspects because I can't even get past the looks! The GMC's aren't much better, IMO. That being said, we have a '15 C3500 C/C dually with 260k + miles that has given us excellent service.
