Dilemma with sale 2008 F350 SRW
I have a new truck on order and it is too far away to drive my present truck over to do a trade in so I will need to sell it locally or with one of the other buyers such as Carvana or Vroom.
I know I will take it in the shorts with Vroom and Carvana so I prefer a private party sale. The only issue I have is presently I believe I have a crack in the exhaust system, I believe it is the flex pipe leaking because I get diesel fumes into the cab during regen.
Other than that the truck is in great shape. It has what would have been the Lariat Ultimate package and chrome package for that particular model. It has 146,500 miles on it. The top end was rebuilt about 6k ago, the high pressure fuel pump was replaced about 3K ago, the tires are about 90%. It has an underbed 5th wheel hitch system and Firestone 5000 airbags with remote controlled compressor.
If it were to be deleted (physical) then the issues with the exhaust would be cured. I am not going to do it myself with a new truck on order.
I will disclose all issues to anyone interested in buying, I think once the leak is cured or the truck is deleted it will be good for many more thousands of miles.
Knowing that current pricing is all over the place and not wanting to screw anyone including my self where do you think the pricing should start out at. I was thinking 10K would be a fair price, especially to someone who could do the delete or repairs themselves.
Thoughts? I just want to do the right thing by the buyer.

My general rule when buying a vehicle needing repairs is Kelly Blue Book/NADA, minus the cost of repairs at a shop, minus at least another 10-20%. I'll do the repairs myself, but not if I'm gonna be into it for the same as just buying a ready to run vehicle when I'm done.
Your best bet would be to repair it and get full value for it.

Honestly, with out pictures or specifics, ie, CC,SB,LB,2wd, 4wd, Single wheel, dual Wheel, etc, etc, it would be hard for us to give a ball park, what I can tell you is that truck prices are up all over the country and in my area that truck (Even with the cracked flex pipe) would start somewhere around $20K and upwards to $50k Prices are just bonkers around here. Good Luck.

It is a CC, SRW, SB, 4WD. It has the top Lariat interior for the year. Two tone paint. I don't think there was an option available it doesn't have. It does not have a backup cam so I am not sure they were available then. I think it was the year before Sync came out so it doesn't have that. It does have the Nav.

If you're in the WA area (looks like you might be from your plates), you might try reaching out to Northwest Motorsports. My dad and I both sold our F150's to them and they paid above trade in, below private party and it was a very quick deal. One thing to keep in mind, at least in the PNW, dealers are hungry for inventory. That exhaust may be a very small thing for a larger dealer like that to fix. With the wheels, tires and fender flares, it would be right up their alley to purchase from you and sell.

Thanks for that but I am now in Nevada. If I were still in Spokane I would try them for sure.

That *may* be an option. To access the pipes at the back of the engine is a cab off repair. Right now I am assuming a pipe fracture, the odds are it is because of the symptoms but there is always that proverbial wrench thrown in the works that could happen. It could be just a loose pipe even, getting to it to confirm is the issue. I will have to see what the local guys charge to pull the cab to diagnosis it. Maybe I can trade a gun for the work.
