$72k for a '17 F350
So, I've been getting emails from my local Ford dealer want me to trade the '15 F350 I currently have. They sent a deal where they offered me $30 trade on a '17 that had the 6.2 engine in it and 35k miles but they wanted $55k for that truck. Then they sent different offers on other trucks again all gassers and not as loaded as mine.
Yesterday I get a email offering me $40k for mine in trade for a '17 diesel with 15k miles on it. They want $72k for their truck. So, I've had enough and emailed back asking how a '17 F350 out of warranty is worth $72k. I get a response that F350's are hard to find and the price went up. So, I responded if their '17 is worth $72k then my '15 should be worth in the mid 50's. Granted, my truck is a CCSB Lariat with 6.7 and what they called the premium package. I have the gooseneck hitch in the bed and spray bed liner.
So, I am waiting on a response and I'm guessing it will be crickets from them, especially since I am not out of love with this truck yet.
Are Superduty prices really skyrocketing like this dealer claims?

Actually they are. My buddy put his 125,000 mile 99 crew cab on Facebook marketplace for 23,000 and he said he had 12 calls on it. He thinks he put too low a price on it. I told him 23,000 for a 22 year old truck is a great price….considering what he paid for it 8 years ago. I’m at the point where I’m seriously thinking to get rid of one of my trucks. My neighbor sold his which is twice the miles and beat to hell for 15,000.
It’s not the price of the trucks that’s going up. It’s the value of your dollar going down. Wait until the inflation really starts hitting

Damn, you're making me feel worse about getting mine. 2000 4x4 7.3l SCSB with 199k. Told my parents I'd buy it for 10k if they would get a truck that mom could drive. They bought a new truck a few weeks ago and mom practically gave me the F-250. Already felt. ike I stole it, now it really feels that way.
yeah man. I consistently get people making me offers on my trucks. It’s usually some lowball out in left field offer because people wanna see if you’ll bite so I just laugh the offers off because I know what these trucks go for these days. I wanted to sell my truck two years ago and I had no problem getting offered 15k. Had a few 7/9k “there is a guy selling a exact one like yours for that price but I rather buy yours” type of attempt to convince me my truck has less value. To those I just politely declined to waste my time.
I
I can probably easily get 19k for my F250 and 23/24 for my F350. as I both are low miles, great mechanical interior and exterior never abused. So yeah these 7.3, older Cummins and duramaxes have really gone up in value. If theire clean low miles yiull get top dollar today.
even though they gave it to you in would go over there and drop 5/6k in their lap. Tell them they either take otmor snoop around play stupid say yiu wanna see the loan docs……go home a d write a check to their truck loan if they have one and send it in. This way they can’t do anything about it. You must be a good kid. And your parents must love the hell, out of you. That’s wonderful to hear.

Yeah there is a supply shortage because of microchips, they are making trucks and storing them in big fields till the chip shortage catches up.
I traded my 19 Platinum for about $7,500 more than I paid for it new. Hated doing it but i think its $20k more than i would get for it next year (inflation or not). Get a KBB instant offer on yours to see where its at.
The best way to do it is trade it on a used Car that is not in high demand.

once the chip shortage is sorted out you’ll have a flood of trucks out there so the used truck prices will dump. Get it while it’s hot so…... If you can sell a truck now and wait till the supply gets there financially it’s a winner for you. The supply I’ll catch up and most likely surpass demand.

I've been looking for a 2005-2010ish SCLB SD for well over a year now and I've just been watching the prices go up,up,up. I'm not about to pay upwards of $20K for a 10+ year old truck with 100K+ miles...and most of them say they need some type of "minor" repair or maintenance at that price. Clean, turn key' 100% trucks are over $25K. You can occasionally find a 7-9K truck, but they're usually beat up work or plow trucks, that'd need at least a couple G's in work to make them reliable again. And I'm up in New England, so at that age they usually also have some level of rust, or worse rot, as well. I'm starting to look at restored OBS trucks, If I'm gonna spend near 20K I might as well get a cool older truck, right?

Well, I did get a response from them. Apparently their 2017 is special but the KBB on my truck is still under $40k so theirs has increased in value and mine has stayed the same. I emailed back that I would never put out $30+k for a two year upgrade and no warranty. I told them I'm fine where I am setting now.

Wow!
That is crazy! My wife wants me to sell one of my two trucks but I love them both.
1. 2000 F350 Lariat Crew, V10, LB, 172K original miles
2. 2000 F250 Lariat Super Cab, V10, LB, 72K original miles
Both are rust free California trucks.
I’ve always told her that there is no affordable way to replace them with the new dealer prices. I realize mine aren't diesels but if prices are this good I’m wondering if I should consider parting ways with one of them?

Lol…..with prices as high as they are I’m strongly contemplating selling my F250. I could get more for it now than ever before. I’m in your boat. It’s gonna cost too much to replace it, but I have a F350 also. Right now if you have extra trucks or cars and wanna make money ….it’s a great time to sell. If it’s a diesel abd decent shape you’ll get your money

I was offered 38K in trade on a truck I paid 42K for in March of 2013. Used prices are always high but right now they're stratospherically stupid.
I could have driven away with a demo 21 7.3 that had 1,800 miles on it for $7K in cash out of pocket had someone not bought that truck literally the same morning I drove to the dealer.
