UpdateI facebook messaged DieselTechChatt this morning with some details of my issues and asked if the pcm conversion could be some of the cause. Withen 2 minutes I had a responce asking for my Hydra number, they then confirmed my email they had on file, and said Jon would be sending me a few test files to diagnose.
Their products and service continues to be top notch!
Well the other tunes for VHAE9J2 didnt help. The truck did not like them at all, ran funky and threw p1316 codes with ses light. I changed to and from those tunes koeo then cycled off and started, to make sure it didnt cause any funkyness doing it while running.
Me too..
Called Bitterroot to go over ideas and costs. Not ready to pull em yet. But about to toss the towel in.
Going to wait for the test files from DTC and then go from there.
May pursue some tuning adjustments, but feel I have spent enough money in that arena.
Anyone want a set of alliant ac's😂
Or the whole truck
Sheesh, hate to see you having all these issues. I'm relatively happy with the current tunes in my truck, except for the shifting and a few other things. Have yet to find a tuner, except for DP tuner, that had my transmission shifting the way I like. I do have a local built transmission that's a little beefed up so maybe that's throwing the tuners for a loop.
I like the shift points of 1023 tunes, but the pedal is a bit too sensitive and the shifts can be kinda hard sometimes.
Jelibuilt shift points aren't the best and they shift kinda hard as well. Throttle sensitivity is perfect though.
PHP shifts pretty good but the torque converter doesn't lock up in 3rd and the injectors are loud as hell.
SDK tunes...not a fan.
I use the VHAE9J2 on my early 99 and they run good.
Interesting. PHP for my PMT2 box code (sorry can’t remember the strategy off hand) seems to always want to keep the TC locked up.
PHP doesn't alter the stock VHAE9J2 torque converter idioms. Shift points and torque converter apply and release points are altered slightly but not to the point where the cslibration acts like a 2001-up calibration.
I should've been a tad more specific. It won't lock the torque converter under normal driving. However, if I go into overdrive and then downshift either with the button on the shifter or by pressing the throttle enough, when it downshifts to 3rd, the torque converter will lock. It will also lock it when accelerating under heavy throttle. Like very heavy throttle.

I guess my “interesting” wasn’t so mysterious after all.
Thanks for sharing and clearing that up for me guys.
With my RCU0 PHP does not lock 3rd under "normal" driving and that is just waste of good ol torque..
Was it that 3rd lockup has to have tons of speed before TC locks..Have to check that out..

Hopefully Jonathan from DTC will have some answers, or at least point you in the right direction.
Well, just did a few miles with a test tune from DTC, barely any sign of the bouncing around issue.
So it appears to be a tuning issue I am dealing with.....
I did notice the converter with that tune, and 1023 stays locked until a lower rpm, which may be part of what is helping the issue. On the other hand that does generally mean it locks up top soon for towing, so we will see whether or not the issue arises if I can get the shifting moved up a bit for towing in the hills, and have the power turned up more then the daily file.
AA has sent me 2 more files to try.
I am ever glad this is a hydra and not a ts6
I am also glad AA doesnt give up, because other then this his tunes run amazing on my truck.
