Found the truck that is going to power the 56, it's a 96 F350 ,5.8 liter ,5 speed OD and DRW

In my yard and can pick at my leisure, runs but needs a U-joint.

Dually would be pretty neat.

The rear axle was the main reason I picked up the truck and the fact it had the 5.8, I'll use the complete drive train as is, drive shaft will need to be shortened approximately 4 inches..

The weather has been super hot and humid for around here so didn't want to get involved sandblasting so decided to tackle the rust spot that was under the windshield weather stripping on the driver side..

after exploring with a pick there were more holes as I expected

So began making a patch to weld in

When I decided to clean off the paint on the flat area under the brow I discovered dark spots in the metal and started to pick at it and to no surprise but to disappointment there was more pin holes that became a finger hole

So this is the hold up until that patch panel arrives, until then I continue on the projects around the house..
The patch panel should eliminate the need of the piece I made..

I didn't know they make a patch panel for that. That's good for you.

They just about make everything now for the 56 abe except the dash but imagine it won't be long before that is available too or the complete cab in steel

Are you going to run the coil springs and I beams off the 95, or use a straight axle?

I haven't looked at all my options yet Charlie, track width is the main concern..

John your builds are always informative and well documented. Not sure if I have asked before but will you need a CVOR to license this truck for the road with the dually rear axle?
With the single rear wheels your GVW should be below the requirement but was wondering if the dually would make it too high.
Keep up the good work and documentation.

Well that sounds good. The local MTO office can confirm your information and I hope you are well informed.
Looking forward to this build.
