Shut the Door
We started with the removal of the interior door panel. New door check going in, and we needed access behing driver door speaker.
We also needed access behind the plastic cover of the hood latch panel. There is a nut with a 13mm head that holds the bottom door hinge. DO NOT DROP THIS NUT. If you do, do not waste your time getting angery. I got the nut loose and reach in with a bottom grabber to back it out the rest of the way.
Next we started taking the quarter panel off. 4- 7/32 bolts in the fender well.
3- 8mm bolts in the headlight area. And 3 bolts under the hood. 2- 8mm, and one 13 mm that is also the anchor post for the hood strut supports. Use caution removing the hood strut. I found out the QUICK way, One strut would not support the weight of the hood. I'll be replacing them soon too.
There are also 2- 8mm bolts removable in the door hinge area and 2 that were under the running boards. Something else is in this picture that is no longer a part of my vehicle.
This is the reason i removed the quarter panel. Full access to the door hinge bolts and one nut on top hinge. Now i do not have worry about paint removal with a rubbing tool and the adjustment needed was Simple.
In this picture????? IDM or PCM? which is this behind the quarter panel?
Full access to the hinge bolts.
It was still a bit challenging removing old and placing new door hinges. We did the bottom one first. That door if freaking heavy.

Removal of door hinges.
In stalling of new hinges. After we got new hinges in places we shut the door. With the door shut we snugged the bolts to the frame work. I had her push to hold the door closed tight and i tightened the bolts to the door. Top and Bottom.
When we opened the door, it drug on the post of latching hinge. He is where she and i traded places. We backed the 13mm bolts off the frame work, I picked the door up a bit and she re-snugged the bolts. Too high. 3rd try was dead on. No drag and now no more play.
Everything went back together great.
No more drag and and more door play. I find that i get on to myself for slamming the door now.
I saw yesterday morning one bolt that i didnt get tightened all the way. It rained during the night after we did this and the next morning i got i on the passenger side to check the inside driver side for any leaks. DRY. Now on to door seals.
My daughter sure is a good helper. And very mechanically inclined. And even though it is spring break, ready to go back to school. She wants to be a marine biologist, or a vet(minus the needles and blood) or now a diesel mechanic. WHAT MY I DOING??? Teaching, Learning, and making Memories.
