Aight fellas...considering the 02 2wd front end has been compromised from bad steering etc...and the centramatics have created a smooth drive, I still would like to replace the ball joints...
So..what ball joints are good, recommend, stay away... Thanks again
Rent/borrow the ball joint tool from autoparts if you don’t have one. You’ll either need the ‘big’ kit or the ‘4wd adapter’ kit to go with regular BJ tool.
So I dont start a different thread, it seems like MOOG wears out extremely fast on our trucks. I assume everyone is greasing them occasionally? Curious why on. Our trucks they dont last like on everything else ive heard of them on. Ill most likely be going with the XRF when the MOOG wear out.

I wonder how many of those who go through ball joints and tie rod ends crank on the steering wheel while the truck is not moving.
I seldom turn the wheel when the truck isn't moving and avoid anything more than a bump when the knuckle hits the stop.
I do, however, off-road a lot which takes a toll. Pushing 8K lbs (with a 13' wheelbase) around the trails is not kind to the joints...but it sure is fun!

That right there is one of my pet (pisses me off) peeves. None of us would do it if it wasn't for the assistance of the power steering pump. Which leads to one of my live by Philosophies...…" Just because you Can does not mean You Should " Any way, bye bye Moog.
I don’t think anything you can do to the ball joints, steering parts, etc while parked has anywhere near the effect a pothole has.
There could be something to that. Seeing as we always have a bumper crop of potholes up here I am always on the lookout for them and rarely get caught off guard. I also don't offroad, which is probably a big contributor to their death as well. And those three things combined? I could see that being a recipe for the death of a ball joint and tie rod end.
My OEM tierods went over 400k miles. My truck weighs more daily than most PSD’s weigh loaded and I have no concern about turning the wheels sitting still. I also spent way too much time living and working in the northeast where there is generally more potholes than road by this time of year.
