Ever since I got the Bronco, there has been a small gap at the top rear of the drivers side door. A couple of days ago, a big gust of wind caught the door and flung it open al the way hard. Now there is such a large gap that I can see outside the rear-up high(above the outer door handle), but the bottom rear of the door is tight. Any way of adjusting the door to close this up?
Depends upon whether the door itself is actually bent or not. If it is, you can try beating and bending back into submission. If a hinge has shifted or been bent, you may be able to loosen it (or both hinges) and adjust the door alignment that way. If neither of these ideas yield any success, you may be looking at replacing either the hinges, the door, or both depending upon the severity of the problem.
When you open the door and lift up on it does the door move? You might have bad hinge pins. This will cause the door to drop down a bit and may interfere with your stricker bolt.
I went and checked the door for movement and there wasn't any at all. I also checked the hinge attachment point bolts to ensure they were tight. The door was still off. I then decided that I couldn't make it anyworse, so I started shoving on the top of the door while it was open. Not much happened. Then I stuck my maglight at the bottom inside of the door and pushed hard several times on the top and things started to move. After about ten hard shoves, the door is sealing back up! I double checked the window and it still rolls up and down without any problems. Thanks for the suggestions, and hopefully anyone else who is having the same problems can benefit from this thread in the future.
