HELP with doors

Hey,
Need help with the doors on my 84 F250

1... driver side outside door handle/button does not work... Not engaging mechanism...Pulled off interior panel but have no idea how to reach inside of door handle

2... new weather stripping on both doors and I have to slam to close... can i adjust anything like the strike plate or post?

Try to peek in there with a flashlight to see what's going on with the door handle.

With the door closing problem, if the rubber is making the door too tight, you can adjust the post sticking out of the door jamb frame. It's mounting hole is very sloppy, so it will move if you can loosen it.

You might also want to stand back and study how the door closes. A lot of times the hinges wear a little bit and the door sags. So when you go to close the door, the latch has to pull the door up as it goes over the post. What I have done on several trucks is loosen the bolts on the bottom door hinge(the ones on the door itself) and put washers between the door and the hinge to kick up the rear of the door, so it will match the pin better when you slam the door. The right way to adjust the rear of the door up is to loosen the bolts on the cab that go to the hinge, but I have never been able to get those loose to adjust them.
