^^^^^^^. What he said, sometimes the immediate latest and greatest just isnt worth the aggravation. And the majority of the service depts are cluless, hacks, and aint no money in this warranty work, ive personally heard that at a ford deslership.
Waiting for the second model year might be prudent but sometimes you just have to, or want to, get that awesome new vehicle that just came out, risks and all. I have been lucky I guess and have only had good experiences with first year equipment. The biggest issue is having to deal with numerous recalls and TSBs, but these usually come out well after that first model year and usually include multiple years. I test drove a F250 with the 7.3L and I was impressed. I thought about buying one, and still might, but I have a relatively new diesel pickup so I'm not in a hurry. The new 7.3 has a lot of old-school technology so it should be pretty bulletproof; at least the parts inside the engine should be.
One can only wait so long to get a truck. I have been dragging my feet for a couple of years .i intended to trade my 16 in when it was three years old. I kinda was waiting for the 10 speed and I was hoping for green to come back. But once I saw the blue tremor on the I decided it was time to upgrade.
