Someone here did a write up on a rebuild with the upgrades but I don't remember who, while searching for it I found this here

BUT until you Tear it down you won't know what all it needs.... you can make some guesses IF you work on em every day.. but I don't.

Jimmy Williams (the guy in the videos for Transmission Bench) is an excellent teacher. If you get his E4OD videos and his master rebuild kit (videos free with kit right now), you will be able to fix your own transmission. Like said above, you won't know what "hard parts" you need until you get it apart. He sells most of those hard parts as well for very fair prices.

I'm down here in the IDI forum because I was working on one this week and needed some info (94 with turbo). Y'all have a solid group in here.

Bear in mind youre going to have to fork over some cash for tools as well. Also a new converter or have yours gone through.

What you all think about a trade? E40D in trade of a 1.9tdi VW. I got a 2000 diesel vw jetta. Front is smashed up a bit. My buddy owns NW Diesel he wants to buy the motor from my vw it jas 93 000 miles on it. Trying to trade for a used trany+converter.

Used Complete E4OD runs around 600 bux

IF you can find one at Pull-A-Part it will cost you just over 130 bux Complete.
BUT the TDI engine at Pull-A-Part costs about 200 Bux Complete.

Or is taking the trany out something i could do on my own? I also got some upper and lower ball joints that need to be installed maybe get him on that instead. Thabks lonewolf youve been lotsnof help.very much appreciated

Been reading alot of different post on here where people have had the same problem of not goi g into gear. All other posts I've read they all had problems with shifting hard or stalling when going aroud corners. Hard shifts. before this happened i had none of these thi gs happen. Why would mine go like that? With no symptoms. so overfilling the system did that much damage?
