Overall, I love these things. They are a very clean install. I installed one light and turned it on so I could see the difference. You can see in the picture how much brighter one side is.
I only found one draw back: the reverse bulbs. You reuse the factory bulbs with the twist lock connector. On mine, the stop is not very firm and it is easy to twist them too far and they fall out of the housing. Overall, not a big deal. I did have to remove them and reinstall the reverse bulbs once because they vibrated enough to fall out. If they do it again I will use a small dab of silicone on it just to keep it steady
i will eventually install LED reverse lights, I just haven’t done it yet.
In case you are wondering, they came from eBay, which added to my skepticism initially but I was very please with the quality and they still look as good today when I first installed them.
Some of us in the north GA area were lucky enough to meet Ben and his beautiful truck this past summer at a Tech Day rally. It was quite funny when he arrived as there were several SD 7.3L owner's providing comic relief and "expert instructions" for two others removing a turbo.
We could hear Ben pull onto the property and all of us stopped and watched him drive up to where we were at. As we greeted him and pointed to where he could park and he pulled away, several of us were staring in amazement of how timeless the OBS still is.
You are definitely very kind @Sous I think all the trucks looked great that day!
the Tech Day was a lot of fun and I hope to make it to the next one. (Still working on the plan for the day).
My truck has been a faithful companion for many years now. I just try to do right by the truck and keep her in good working condition.
I need to install the RSK, but every time I get close to working on it, something else pops up.
Awhile back I found a set of LED tail lights that looked interesting but no one here had used them yet. I decided to try them see how I like them but I waited to share to see how they did. Now, almost a year later I think I can give a fair evaluation.
First, Here are a few pics:
Where did you buy this set of LED tail lights. I like them a lot. Any link?. And what kind of reverse led lights are you thinking to install? Thanks in advance.
I just want a decent LED bulb for them. Easier said than done. I did snag a set of flush mount lights that I hope to install when things settle down a little bit.
Well, today the truck was mad at me. I had hoped to venture down to GA for a nice day with some other FTEers but unfortunately I couldn’t make it. I guess the truck really wanted to go because in protest, it started leaking brake fluid at a wheel cylinder. I figured it would be an easy fix and I could get back to work. Nope. Somewhere along the way I misplaced one of the little pieces that goes between the wheel cylinder and the brake shoe. I spent more time looking for it, than doing anything else. I have decided that the truck kicked it out of the garage when I wasn’t looking. After calling around and finding that no one had said piece, I looked again with no success. I finally decided to make one. I decided to use a square head bolt since the head is proportionally larger than a hex head. You might ask why I have a variety of square head bolts laying around. To which I say, why wouldn’t you have square head bolts laying around?
anyway, here is how it turned out.
i wasn’t looking for perfection since I needed it to be wheels down as soon as possible, but I don’t think it turned out too bad.
Because the whole process took so long I still didn’t get the work done. At least I can give it another go tomorrow, I hope

Very sorry, I forgot to say thank you for the info.
No real updates, just plugging along. I did have to swap a CPS last week. As usual, not the most ideal timing but not the worst either. I took this pic after dragging about 10k up 75 towards the Kentucky line. Overall not a bad haul. I think folks underestimate 3.55 gearing. I stayed in 4th gear to make sure I kept up the rpms and still cruised at about 60-65 with no trouble. This kept me in an ideal power band and I had plenty of go-go to pass if I needed to. I am interested to see how 160s with a KC drop in would pull
Unless one pulls heavy, 3.55:1 and a manual would work well I figure. 2500rpm @ 65mph in 4th (1:1) with a 31" tire seems fine to me...and about 2000rpm in OD all else same.
160/30s and KC's small drop in are my plans. Hell, I may do the snail first.
I am looking at something similar. I will probably stick with 160/0 though. I know it sounds silly, but I want to set one up that pulls well without an intercooler. I get it, life would be better with one and I may eventually get one but I don’t want one right now
I will say that 10k up that section of I75 is a good test of the truck. I was happy with the ease of which it did it. You usually crest one hill to see the next hill in that section. Definitely some long pulls up steep grades.
The next family project. Not sure on the final plans, but the cab is really solid. We originally hooked it up to a newer f150 so I could winch it off when we got it home but the tongue weight was way too much for the 150. The old 350 barely knew the weight was on it.
