I dig that harness, same one I use. Best part takes load off the switch. Brighter lamps are a side benefit to me!

Well, that was not fun

last week I was hauling a trailer to Kentucky. Nothing heavy, just about 4K lbs. Pulling up I-75 it was fine, I was running 65 mph up the steepest part in 4th gear and the truck was just cruising. The 3.55 gear actually does pretty well in that scenario. It was about an hour trip without any issues. On the way home, pulling empty, it started surging when I accelerated up the hills. I switched tanks, which helped for awhile, but the surging returned. I made it home, but I definitely wanted to find the source of the problem before I hit the road again

Ever since I installed my efuel I have been keeping an eye on the primary filter. When I built the system I used the cat head style for the primary. I chose it because of the top mount 150 micron prefilter. I liked the extra protection. The filters were smaller but they seemed to be fine. To honest, for several years it has been. The only trouble I have ever had I attributed to bad fuel or ‘just being time for a filter change’. I would spin on a new one and all would be right with the world.

Quick pause to eat ice cream.....

Looking back at it, I think the filter was fine when it was new, but when it would get some miles it just couldn’t keep up. It is probably fine for a Cat, but the demands of the PSD were more than it could provide. So I made the decision to swap to another NAPA head and use the Wix 33367 filter for the primary. It is a larger filter and seems to be preference for the current efuel setups. I even added a cutoff valve to assist with filter changes. All went well until I fired the truck up.

0 psi.

I went back through everything and found that the fuel pump was not providing pressure. The truck would run, and the pump was humming but there was no pressure. Off to the store I went and brought home a new Delphi pump. Preform the install and tada!

0 psi.

Now I was getting confused. I tore it down and check the gauge, blew air through the lines looking for an obstruction, and used a 5 gallon can to rule out the fuel tank. Nada. All things considered I finally decided that I had a bum pump. So back to the store again and this time I came home with a Bosch pump. I reassembled the fuel system and now: 62 psi. Finally!!!

I am interested to see if there are any differences tomorrow when I go for a test drive.

This project turned out to be a headache. I am glad it is over and I hope the new filter allows for more stable fuel pressure.

i will post some pics in the morning as well

Test drive went fine. She is back to her old self again.

I would like give some kudos to RiffRaff. I placed an order for some general maintenance items last night at 10:40 pm. At 11:25pm I get the email that my package is ready for pickup by UPS. I was impressed by the promptness of it considering the time of day. I always enjoy it when I get to spend some money with Clay.

Clay is a machine! The few times I've called he's been on the phone but always returns my calls, can't beat that level of professionalism and customer service. Wish I could say the same of other powerstroke related companies.....

Good to see another white OBS running around. What are your plans for injector sizing? I have about 200 miles on brand new AC's and can't say enough good things about them.

Lol I don’t know if my truck will ever see 3500 rpm, just because I drive pretty conservatively. But the pressure is back where it was and all seems to be well again.

I plan to run 160/0s eventually. New ACs sound awesome, but I have a used set of 160s which came out of my brothers truck. Once I settle on turbo plans, they will go in when I do the turbo

In Mexico I assume.

33367 is same filter on my e-fuel, this reminded me to buy new. Need to replace but then I will smell of No 2 for days.
