Morning Jim and to the rest of the Nor-Cal Chapter.
Thanks for stopping in Neil and a hello to you,
well guys I’m disappointed , I looked everywhere for my white chocolate crunch bars , I found M&ms have basically every flavor but Diesel and I bought a Costco 55 gal bag of Candy , to my surprise No Tricks or Treaters came to my door, hmmmm, May be I should have turned the porch light on and put the dogs inside the house , question how long will candy last , or should I say before I need a Dentist.
I had breakfast with a couple of friends yesterday, and we were talking about the QTY of trick or treaters. I had none (zero) and I know it's because of where we are. One other had exactly 1, and the other two had so many it was overwhelming. We got to talking and it turns out there is now an app that displays all the "good neighborhoods" for collecting a premium candy stash. I guess it had to happen.
Stranger danger. Parents don't want their kids going door to door. It's not safe. Ever since the 70's, when they found candy tampered with, razor blades in apples, etc. Although I believe that those are urban legends. Nobody got dragged into a house by a sex offender, bit into a candy bar with a pin, or fed the baby with baby food that had ground up glass. That's as silly as being paranoid about me taking your daughter on a date, because I drive a van.
Most people these days take their kids to local churches, or malls that have a Halloween celebration planned. Much safer in their minds to do that.
I drive a mini van that seats 7. Doesn't make me a pedophile. LOL of course, mine has windows, so it wouldn't be ideal for child snatching duty anyway.
I had a van. I named it Amber after Amber Alerts. It literally had a child's pair of shoes hanging from the mirror when I got it. It was a Pathfinder Quadravan 4x4. I finally realized if I put 20k into it, it would be as good as my truck. So, I sold it.
Vans had their moment,......back in The 70's. Not that I'm old enough to remember, nor will I admit to even being alive during that decade, but the term "vansploitation" comes to mind. I must have read it on the side of a box of cereal or something.
