Do you really NEED a gaming computer Jim? The reason I ask is because you can get a really excellent Chromebook for a couple hundred bucks. I bought one last year, and it does everything I need and is extremely portable, not to mention the battery lasts almost 12 hours. My typical usage of 2-3 hours per day lasts me several days before I have to charge it up.
Add to that if it ever goes toes up, you can grab another one and be back in business in a matter of a couple of minutes.
The only downside is that they are not really meant for "gaming", although any new one can run Android games.
Well yes, I do actually need a gaming computer. I play video games 10-14 hours a day. I live alone (grand daughter is now living on the street, sleeping in my old Thunderbird with my daughter's boyfriend because he doesn't want to sleep alone in the car...What a joke) and spend almost no time going out. Only time I leave is to get groceries, or go to church on Sunday. I have four or five games that are graphics intense, so getting a better gaming computer would be nice. If I only surfed the web, or watched YouTube videos all the time, then no, I could just throw out the old computer and get a Chromebook or just use this laptop, or even one of the twin HP desktops I have here. I just got back from the local PC repair shop and they said they can get the data from my old hard drive. So I told them about the computer I was looking at, and they said that one is $50 off today only due to black Friday. SO I decided to go with that one, but I had them add liquid cooling for an additional $80, and since their memory was also on sale, I bought another stick, increasing it from 8gb to 16gb. And there is no room for an internal DVD player, I got an external one, which he threw in for free. He also said he would do the data transfer from my old hard drive to the new one for free. And it is not going to take 2-3 days to complete, because they are letting me have the display model. So I can get it today. Oh, and another surprise was that all the computers I was looking at yesterday from 3 different companies were equipped with Windows 10 Home 64bit. This one comes with Windows 10 Professional 64bit. So if I wanted to add more than 32gb of memory I can go as high as 64gb. A moot point as 16 is more than enough for what I am going to use it for, but it is nice for bragging rights. LOL I am sure there are other additional perks of Pro over Home, but at this time I don't know what they are. Anyway, this is what it will look like except this one doesn't have the liquid cooling, so it has a rainbow fan.
Actually, this shot doesn't show the CPU fan, just the rear case fan.
And I will be getting it this afternoon since it is a display, so no 2-3 day wait.

One major feature of Windows 10 Pro is that it allows you to run virtual machine (VMs). VMs are cool, and they do allow you to "sandbox" applications and keep them isolated from other things running on the machine. That is a major safety feature in this day of malware malignancies. BTW - My chromebook runs practically everything in a VM. There are a couple of apps I have that don't run native on ChromeOS, but they do run in Linux. So I run those things in a Linux VM.
