Here's a report back on mine since it is in the test with a new PCV change out by the dealership. There has been no appreciable lose of oil in 1000 miles including a 250 mile trip. I did remove the catch can before it started and there was never more than a table spoon of oil in it every 1000 miles anyway. I too have started using "sport mode" for all in town driving which means rare to 7th since it needs 45 mph to get there.

I'm hoping for "no" engine replacement but we shall see. If this whole thing bugs me too much I'll trade next year for a F-250 6.2 Lariat. The mpg is not a game breaker to me but selling a 2 year old truck is. I'm pretty sure the 10 speed will not find itself in a 250 and its needs to be a little tougher...I wish us all some luck here.

Great updates and luck to all ,I am presently monitoring my oil consumption and will post results ..With my 18-5.0 fx4 lariat ,I am getting 20.8 mpg .This in a 35 mile trip country roads, no in town or interstate driving I am thrilled these truck can get great gas mileage .Of course the more you)) get into IT mileages decreases.. I know the automakers have to deal with the EPA.. Good luck TR

640.. from what I have found the 10 speed will be used with the new 7.3 and the 6.2 with a 6 speed will be considered "base" up thru Lariat models.. I can only hope

2019 F150 XLT 5.0L Oil Consumption Update

My 2019 F150 was built May 13, 2019 Special Order. I had been reading about some 2018 5.0L owners were having oil consumption issues and had wondered if the 5.0L was a good choice. Many of you have probably heard by now that Ford determined that vacuum pressure was too high causing oil to be sucked by the rings. As a result they released a TSB that is supposed to fix the problem. My engine used about 3 liters of oil over 5,800 miles. It appears the oil consumption has stopped before I took it to my dealer last week for some warranty work. My dealer updated the PCM software, changed oil and filter, replaced the dipstick and tube with an updated version as per Ford's TSB. I am pleased to say that it has never run better! It has more power, runs smoother and the 10 speed shifts better than ever. Coming up to 6,100 miles now and also notice fuel mileage has improved as well, not that it was bad before but I'll take better fuel mileage anytime! Driving mostly country roads and some city speeds vary 30 - 70 mph but mostly 45 mph. At around 2,200 miles I tried driving in sport mode and noticed oil consumption increase along with fuel. Around 4,000 miles I kept it in "Normal" mode and noticed oil consumption has pretty much stopped. I think the vacuum pressure is where it should have been for this engine. Ford engineers seemed to have it figured out but, we'll wait and see after we get some more mileage on this 5.0L and keep you posted. I've driven and owned many Fords over the years and must say that I really like this truck!

Last week I bought a ‘19 F-150 SCrew 5.0L, 20k on the clock. Only had it for a week so haven’t had many miles put on her so far as I have a company truck I drive daily. It’s an ‘18 SCab with the mighty 3.3L lol. It’s not terrible but it absolutely hates towing my tandem CarMate 7x14 trailer. Traded in the interim 04 F-150 reg cab 5.4 I had for 1.5 years that was starting to have its own set of issues. I’m hoping this isn’t a case of “out of the frying pan” deal with my new truck. Time will tell I guess, I’ll be keeping a close eye on it. Happy to be back, and of course an obligatory pic

Nice looking rig, Looks like It is lifted front and rear. My wife would kill me, she complains about how tall my stock truck is.

Yessir, don’t want to hijack the thread, 6” Rize lift. Bought it as she sits, my wife is 5’3 and she climbs up in it and we are both in our early 50s 👍🏽

6" lift with 35's is the best look for these trucks (for me anyway) especially on a 6.5' bed, looks great!!

D8 , nice lookin* rigs,.....TJ I also agree , my wife hates in and out on my stock 18 Lariat , my brother has a 19 f350 and his wife complains ,will not ride in my bronco (6 inch lift )but will in my 1985 since I installed steps. When younger the higher we wanted them ,as older we tend to re think the young man process ! TJ I owned two pintos , 72 4 speed,76 auto , both fun to drive ,but man now they look funny .Affordable and great full to have wheels when younger! TR

Thanks Guy's, My Wife didn't have a problem when she was 50, June 6, she will be 70. Big difference in 20 years of "good" living. I'm sure glad she isn't a member!

Jsoko, Very nice Glad you are having good luck. I don't drive like I used to either and I changed on my 2018, 5.0 oil changes from 5 month or 5,000 miles to 6 months or 6,000 miles. I have only got close to the 6,000 miles once. I bought mine on April 11, 2018, oil has been changed 3 times with 12,657 miles as of today. I have goon the same route with our 2018 Edge, 2.0 Eco, it's on it's third oil change with 2,622 miles on it. We are both retired now and as you can see the truck gets driven much more than the car, just more comfortable. I just refuse to be a 1 vehicle family. When we have separate things to do she takes her car while I go on my own mission. I drive here car to the corner and fill it up.

I did my 1st oil change
then i saw that big plastic plug YIKES
figured out how to empty without making a mess or getting burned

now I use my FORD Pass Points and get the Dealer to do it for free

I may do 6,000 miles a year
so every 3,000 suits me

I remember back in the OLD Days it was recommended every 5,000 or 90 days

Well you can look at my signature and tell I have couple years behind me. The dealer worked to convince me to go longer than 3 mons or 3,000 miles When i had my business I changed my oil every month, because I put on so many miles. my average was 45,000 a year. I know that comes out to more than 3,000 a month, but I used Valvoline oil and Motorcraft filters. I also changed the air filter every 3 months. Flushed the transmission every 2 years, changed the third member oil at the same time. Vacuumed the Ac and filtered/ recycled the Freon added an ounce of refrigerant oil. Replaced the first compressor seal at 200,000, along with a new AC clutch. When I sold the truck at 350,000 miles, The AC compressor was still the original factory unit. I rebuilt the C6 one time at 240,000. I still have a copy of all the records in storage! That 1985 F150 was the absolute champion from all the vehicles I have owned. the friend that bought it I know drove it 4 more years. He moved and I lost track of him.
