Haven’t had a lot of progress on the ol 73 lately. The bed is finally ready for paint, 320 then 400 and final 1500 wet sanded and it looks and feels like glass! I wanted a toolbox that didn’t look out of place so I found a Craftsman that I liked. It’s low profile and not as wide as most boxes so I think I’ll add that nice touch to the truck when it’s done. Another update, pulled my dipstick out a few days back and it reaked of gas in the oil so I figured fuel pump replacement time....after NAPA ordered the wrong pump I finally got the new correct pump back in and so far no gas smell in the oil! Success! The bed goes in April 1st for paint....let’s go April!
Got my wheels and tires on today! Went with Ion Alloy 171 Series in 17X9. Running a Cooper Discoverer 285 tire. Pretty happy with how they look on here, just waiting on my drip rail trim tomorrow!
Well ran into a few setbacks along the way. Got my bed to my painter and some body work cracked from the rough Indiana country roads so it has to be redone! Putting in new wheel arch panels and one right rear patch panel. Finding these little rust out spots under old body work not done by me...note to anyone doing body work ( always take off every spot of filler you see because you have no idea what's lurking underneath) so I'm in the process of redoing my entire bed as of now. Waiting on some more patch panels to arrive from Raybucks and LMC then I'll redo body work (again) here's some progress pictures
Ouch....
Well, you do want it to be right..... don't cut corners.
(cab does look great... you driving it around some?)
Keep up the good work.
I drive it around when it's nice out...back and forth from the house to the farm only about half a mile lol. Makes it hard to drive around with no brake lights or anything! I love driving this thing though I'm just ready for it to be done so I can enjoy it this summer. The weather isn't being kind to us farmers this year so that means less truck driving time as well thanks for the motivation!
