Well the bed finally made it to the painter Sunday! Good thing it's only a few miles from my house so you all can get a good laugh at how we got it there (pics to come) the plan is to start painting this Saturday and let it cure for about a week then bring the rest of the truck over and mount the bed to the truck so the painter can finish cutting and buffing the entire thing. So I'm looking at about the last part of October to finally see this thing back together! Only left to do then will be making some brackets to mount the rear LMC chrome step bumper as the original ford brackets won't work. Then finish wiring for the tails and installing the trim on the tailgate. Then I'll take to the exhaust and run some pipe out to the rears with some chrome tips. Beyond ready to see this old girl back in one piece the one pic of the trim is a test fit after all the holes were tapped into the new tailgate. Definitely not original for the Custom trim level but the aluminum against this medium jade paint is definitely fitting I think for a truck from this era
You're exactly right...normally I'd be thinking about getting done with corn and beans by that time but this year will be surprised if we start before the 12th....
Well it's Sunday and I FINALLY got the bed onto the truck!! Went on fairly easy with the help of some buddies and eyes to watch where everything needed to go. Painter said about a week and he'll have it wet sanded and buffed then it'll be time to bring her home and finish installing trim on the dent and the tailgate. Also add the Custom badges to the back bedsides. Then it'll be onto finishing the rear and wiring and fabbing up some bumper brackets to fit the new step bumper. She's on her way!
