So I'm happy to report the Fox single was a big improvement! At least on my truck. My normal bump steer is 99% gone. The steering is noticeably heavier. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Make that 2 of us. I finally received mine about 2 weeks ago. Had it installed and I am thrilled with the results.
When I drive over the diagonal seams where a bridge meets the asphalt the steering wheel no long flicks back and forth.
Why didn't ford get this right?
NP.
As far as torque specs, I referred to a drawing from another post. 67ft lbs on the frame end (I used loctite also) and 60 ft lbs on the other end.
I was able to do 60ft lbs on end that goes on steering rod but 67ft lb seems high on frame end..while tightening it ..the rubber bushing on rod end of stabilizer gets pretty squished.so I just tightened it snug..67 ft lbs seems like it would pretty much flattened the rubber bushing
Add me to the list,, I notice a bumpy feeling in the steering wheel after my 2.5” level kit install. Just ordered the 985-24-001 single stabilizer, and the pitman arm puller. Thanks
Just put mine on today in preparation for the Carli level kit headed my way. Definitely needed the puller as the factory taper end was rusty inside and tight.
I put 60# on the frame side which definitely squished the rubber bushing being the steel sleeve was about 3/16” shorter than the rubber. Really think there should be a washer that covers the face of the rubber to keep it compressed a little more even on the factory bolt. Same on the other side. Looks like there should be another washer between the stabilizer and the hex on the shaft.
Other than that, it really killed any feedback thru the steering wheel on all but the lager pot holes. I did not notice any tighter feeling to the steering but I don’t drive the truck on a regular basis to where I may notice. Fox products sure look impressive.
Pretty happy with it and curious how it does with the bigger tires coming.
I had my heart set on the double, but after reading all the posts, I decided to look at the single. I just swung by a local 4x4 store here and they told me when you only use a single, it can make the truck feel like it's out of alignment (pull to one side if you let your hands off the wheel). I guarantee you guys are a lot smarter than what I was told. Any truth to it?
Thanks!

If your stabilizer has too much pressure in it, it can do as he said. Brand new it might push a little, but after its broken in it'll be perfect. Mine never pushed, my neighbors did, after about 500 miles he said it completely went away. I'm still a firm believer in the single being the best route you can go.

The Fox ATS doesn't exert any forces in either directing, kind of the beauty of that unit - just dampens the forces.
Both of these look like what you are recommending. I would assume, based on pure price, the ATS is a better performer over the 2.0 Performance Shock?
Two totally different units - thats why the price difference. The standard "can" cause a push because its a standard directional shock, where the ATS does not. Though shaft designs (ATS) have been used for many years with motorcycles and Fox just applied that technology to trucks. The ATS is also fully 24 click adjustable to meet your needs/preferences.
If u get the standard fox stabilizer the push is very very minimal meaning it takes forever for it to extend if pushed in..so when installed you won't be able to tell or even feel
Thanks guys! Sounds like a good option either way. This week she gets a clear bra and a 5 year ceramic wax. March 26th ... 7,500 lb auto air bags. I'd like to do the stabilizer at the same time as the air bags.
