First time this happened with my 2018 was about 3 weeks ago, and we had some rain/snow the night before. This time it was dry but really cold (for us in DC area at least) about 7 degrees out. Both times I came out of the house around 7AM and the front doors on my supercrew cab would not unlock. Climbed in through rear doors. Very frustrating. I've made an appointment to bring it to dealer next week. I'm irritated because just had the dealer perform the 10K service less than 2 weeks ago and this was already a known FSA. Why didn't they address it then?
I received a notice from Ford on the TSA for the freezing door locks. It happened a couple times in December. The dealership had the truck for a couple days to fix it. It has been single digit numbers and below freezing for the past week, and I no longer have the issue.
I have a 2018 F350 cclb. Yesterday morning the temperature was 30 degrees. I opened my doors to load up my truck and the rear passenger door would not latch until several hours later once temps got above freezing.
I had this same problem with my 2015 which was recalled. I read that the recall was also for the 2017 super duty as well.
Has anyone experienced or heard of door lock issues with the 2018's?
Yes on my 2018 F-350 dully. Live in upstate NY temps have been below 32 several times. Door latches freeze everytime. Had back to dealer several times and no cure. Being told they contacted Ford Hot line and have to wait for decision on what they are going to do. Don't understand why they don't change the latches like they did in 2017.
Pulling the plugs is literally 15-20 seconds per door if you've never done it. I just got mine back from the FSA after over 2 weeks and had planned on yanking the plugs this weekend when warmed up 70 degrees!!! ...and when I spotted them yesterday at dawn in the snow and -6 F, I got triggered and yanked them all out on the spot.
Had to take the truck right back to have them fix a pinched window seal that I couldn't quickly address, then noticed they reinstalled a door panel incorrectly so fixed that myself this evening. While in there I noticed that they couldn't be bothered to reinstall the rubber plug that retains the cable in the inner door panel properly because it's time consuming. Fixed that for them, now have to pull the other 3 door panels to address those and try not to notice any more "work" performed. This is why I dread recalls and don't care much about preserving factory warranties. If I like the vehicle enough that I intend to keep it long term, I'd MUCH rather work on it myself, regardless of work involved. (CRAP, the Super Duty doesn't fit in my garage...) There's nothing worse than having to place any trust in someone else's work with anything of any value.
ETA: Actually, the tech didn't reinstall two of the more difficult plugs to get out quickly. The round ones covering the bolt in the door jam. Made it a quicker job. At least he left both of them for me somewhere on the floor in the backseat.
They have either stopped using the visible door handle gaskets in exchange for RTV, or I really got a messed up install. Took it to probably the "best" stealerships in the KC area. The service manager was incredible though.
I live in Southern California & they said I don't need the door latch fix & I said to the lady what happens when I go to Montana, Idaho in the winter & my doors freeze, her comment was take to the Ford dealer then, I said how do I do that if I can't get in!?
My dealer did the ford authorized fix a month or so ago and everything has been fine, even through the polar vortex. They said they added some additional weather sealing/stripping.
has any one had the ford fix done to there truck i talked to the dealer and they haven't done any and what he said they are going to do is tape and foam it doesent sound like a fix at all

i had the recall done last year due to 3 out of 4 doors freezing shut. Took 2 days and used sealant etc. We’ll see how this year goes. Then, after getting that fix done, I received the 19NO2 recall if needed good up until 2028. I’ve not had any door latch problems yet...fingers crossed....but we’ll see.
Here is a little history of my truck and the door locks. Hopefully my experience with these door locks is the worst out there...I would not anyone to experience what I have gone through.
Since Ford applied the 2019 model year fix to my 2017 (after getting approval from Ford engineers) my locks have worked perfectly (and we have had some days in the teens for far this season with zero issues).

Someone last year posted a so called "ghetto fix" for this problem. It involved removing the rubber plugs at the bottom of the doors and lubing the latches. I did this to my 2017 and it solved the problem.
The 2017 is now gone and I have a 2019. I haven't looked close lately but it seems to me that same holes are in the door bottoms but no rubber plugs are there. Hopefully I don't have any problems with the new truck this winter.
