Agreed...liquidsteam never replied after the initial T9 statenent, but my research came up with Boeshield T9, available in an aerosol, a gallon and POSSIBLY in other containers. I am guessing that is what liquidsteam used. When you visit thei Boeshield site for technical information, be sure that you are focused on T9, there is another less costly Rust-something-or-other product that is not T9.
I haven’t heard-back from liquidsteam yet, BUT IF the mentioned T9 spray is the answer, I believe the product information states that it removes previous materials. I hope it us the solution to the problem.
I've had the issue from the beginning on my 2017. Not until it got cold for the first time this year did I discover a work around.
If I get in and try to close the door with it unlocked it won't latch. But if I lock the door and then try to close it, it latches every time. So I've just been doing that since the dealer told me, "We've never heard of that issue. We'll have to look into it." Bunch of BS.
Wow, big news, ecsb82, if we can get others with the issue to try that 'fix' we may have a valuable proven tool for those frozen mornings, was it something you stumbled upon or was it a'mechanical decision', just curious...thanks ecsb82
I was talking this through with a co-worker and he had a similar experience. Said he had similar issue with either a bronco or mustang in years past and it ended up being the actuator that was faulty. I suppose that could be the case but will have to see- I'll mention it to dealership when truck goes back in tomorrow for a follow-up repair. I did some looking and it appears that the actuator for this truck is the same part going all the way back to 1999. Faulty/freezing actuator might be it- ?? Drivers side door latch froze in open position again this morning (second time since it was "fixed" under 18N03) checked passenger door and it was fine.
ecsb82- When you say you close the door locked what do you mean? Do you hit the door lock switch then close it? I tried that but the problem I have is the door lock button does not depress/recess into door as it is stuck in the up position. Hitting lock only causes it to jiggle a bit but not release.

Mechanical decision. Upset with myself for not thinking of it sooner. Do you know how many times I drove with a ratchet strap holding my rear doors closed until it warmed up?

Yes I hit the door lock to lock it and then close the door and it latches.
So your door is locked over night and then you can get it to unlock but then not lock again when you get in? I did have one extremely cold morning where mine did that. I pushed the lock button down manually to lock and shut the door.

I posted this in another similar thread but this just happened to my 17 450 this morning, all 4 doors. Already at the dealer as I took it straight there. I tried the above process but it didn't work for me, but I was only trying this on the drivers door. All 4 of my doors wouldn't relatch after being opened and it was only about 20 deg last night.

Yep, that's right Locked door opens but will not "release" or "re-latch" until it's warmed up. Tempted to dismantle door but will leave it up to Ford & warranty for now....not much faith in that since the "prescribed fix" does not work- makes me believe it's a stalling tactic to buy time until they R&D the problem....frustrating. Might have to move South. LOL
Sorry for the delay in responding. The T-9 worked for me immediately the "first" time....... fast forward about 2 weeks.... drivers door froze again and the T-9 did not work. Exercised it quite a bit and still nothing. Sorry no miracle cure. Received the "Customer satisfaction" letter and made an appointment at my local dealer. They said nothing available until the week of the 17th..... unfortunately without garage storage as an option I guess Im stuck holding a frozen door shut while driving. Super safe situation.
I was actually thinking about using a heat gun or hair dryer on the mech next time it happens. I'm just not sure WHAT specific part is freezing. The latch seems to move freely after the T9 application so I'm gonna guess its something else inside the door panel. If I have time I might pull the door panel and see what I can see.
