This problem shouldn't be on the 2017 and up SD....looks like the F150 have this also, should have been addressed by now!!

I guess will see if the new fix cures this. I hope so, I want to wash my truck.

So the F150's have been having the same issue? I think the new F150 came out in 2015, If so.... this door freezing should have been addressed. I hope this new fix is going to work for us, I would really like to wash my truck in the winter months.

FYI. I posted this in the other thread yesterday:

I just called my dealership to confirm my Monday appointment for FSA plus all 4 door latch/actuator assemblies and was told that the story has changed again as of 1/06.

Now they are only allowed to perform the FSA which they admit is junk and not working, and they are instead injecting the assemblies as best they can with a syringe full of antifreeze. Seriously.

The new latch/actuator assemblies now seem to be back in stock. They run about $90 a piece except for the left, rear which is about $60. What I don't know is if the cables also need to be replaced to match as they did not think that they were included.

Had the FSA performed earlier this week after experiencing almost daily latching issues if below 25 degrees. Well the past three days doors still not latching and needing 30 minutes of truck warm up for door to latch. Not happy and will be filing complaint with NHTSA as Ford seems to have no fix for this serious issue after 3 years. Never mind that they are still building and selling trucks with doors that won’t latch as far as I can tell.

It concerns me that a top auto maker can't make all their doors close or open properly in cold weather. How basic is that. Not saying I could design a latch any better, but it sounds more like a problem that I would have if I tried to design a car, not Ford Motor Company of Dearborn Michigan. Door latches have been around how long now?

Exactly...apparently the doir latch and door’s inner workings were ‘re-invented’, and were ‘re-invented’ very poorly...there is no excuse for this especially if it was done to shave costs, as stated above, this is a simple component of the automobile that was mastered decades ago ! ...and the absolute worst observation is ( again, mentioned above) this debacle has been occurring since 2015, an entirely new vehicle model could have been designed in this passing time frame let alone a door latching system that works !

After my truck had the FSA done, I have not had an issue. ( knock on wood ) Single digits here and I have been through the car wash twice with no freeze up issue.

If it was the new parts or not who knows. I had same issue last year and my dealer did something to it and never had another issue again until this winter. Maybe they have some kind of super lube I dont know about.

I do not believe excessive cold is the only cause. I am having the door lock problem on my 2019 XL (crew cab, stx, all power options). I ordered the truck in Oct and picked it up in Dec. I live in Phoenix, AZ.

Only the rear passenger door has had the problem. 4 separate occasions in the last two weeks. Most recent was just yesterday afternoon after driving for 45 minutes, outside temperature in the 60s, no rain. A friend was sitting in the back and the door would not unlock once we arrived at our destination. Everytime the problem occurs, the lock has to be manually pulled up. I will be calling a dealer on Monday to see what they say.

Regrettably this is the same problem that my 2016 F150 had. I had some kind of recall repair done on it in early 2018 that seemed to fix the problem.

So I had the work done on my 17 F 250 concerning the doors freezing. Had a snowstorm come through last night with intermix of freezing rain. All the doors worked. We'll see how the wind and cold affects it tonight. Supposed to get down to 1 degree or less and -20 with wind chill.

My rear driver side door would not latch closed this morning after rain/ snow event. Took about 5 min down road with door ajar until I was able to stop and get it to close. I wonder if a squirt of Wd-40 would help by displacing moisture?

Yesterday it was 34 degrees and raining. Today it's in the negative temps. No issues since the fix

did that this am, 15 degree outside, no help doing this. Is it the lock mechanism that is freezing or the handle getting stuck in unlatch??

Not sure where you live, but it may not appear immediately simply because it's cold out. I drove my 2017 all through the winter of 2017-18 without an issue. We're now in the midst of a below zero F cold snap. Truck was parked indoors all night and ran for about 20 minutes before I took my wife to work in a snowstorm yesterday. Pulled into a convenience store to grab the snow brush off the rear floor to clean tail lights. Rear driver door would not open. It was like it never unlocked even after the cab being heated for quite some time and the unlock button pushed several times.
There are several reports on this forum of people getting the FSA done and if they had the problem it made it worse. Or if they didn't have the problem, now they do after the service.
Someone had a YouTube video that showed the inside of the door with the trim panel removed. It may have been an F150 but the Super Duty problem is the same. It appeared that the door doesn't vent well and the interior of it was coated in condensation. Add in cold temps, not a good combination. Some have reported success removing rubber plugs near the bottom of the doors and then lubing latches. It's below zero again here this morning so I don't feel like going out to a cold garage and trying it yet.
