Of the three crankshaft examples I have, my original crank out of my reman engine had a wear ring and a deep groove on its snout. The second crank had a light snout groove and the third no groove but a wear ring.

I bought the accurate diesel wear ring installation tool and had them throw a front seal and wear ring in with it. Turns out the front cover gasket comes with a seal and wear ring so I guess I have an extra now.

I popped the HPOP cover off because I couldn't see the SN of the engine and I didn't want to have to do it with the engine in the pickup down the road and found the van engine does have the updated HPOP fitting. She sure was tough getting that cover off though and the o-rings/seals were pretty hard on the cover.
