I replaced the rocker arm assembly, next up is the compression test.

Anybody have a lead on a compression test adapter?
Pretty certain Horrible Fright has a kit that includes the adapter for the glowplug hole? Bring a glow plug with you. Then again I might be thinking of their fuel injecting kit for fuel pressure testing.
If I find the thread pitch I'll add it here in an edit.
The adapter below is the OTC 6660 .

The adapter should fit to the Harbor Freight kit. One customer in the reviews also said he made one of the adapters work by adding a brass pipe extension to one of the included adapters in the kit. I don't have this kit but might pick it up for the 29 bux.
heres the link. From reading reviews it looks like it got negatives from dummies cranking it and it fired up blowing out the gauge. Can't blame the product for that.
Anyways, another reviewer said the OTC adapter will fit the HF gauge quick connect. Maybe look for a coupon or 20% off. Heres the link.
Diesel compression kit

I have one of the Ford kits from when Rat in Texas was selling off all the dealership tools from his closed business.
But wouln't you know what adaptor is MIA. I guess you can't win them all.

Chris you have seen my DIY WOT pressure simulator? it allows you to stay at idle and check that you have the fuel
that is needed for a WOT run without taking it out and running a risk of the ticket of engine damage from something
else that is causing problems.

.

It's made from the HF fuel pressure test kit with a few extra parts. The critical one is the orifice on one leg of the "T"
At idle with the ball valve closed your getting the pressure as it is. With the ball valve open it dumps fuel out the orifice
back into the tank or a bucket at the amount that would be used during a Wide Open Throttle run. I got the size of the
orifice from Rusty and he had gotten it from someone that knew what the size of the Ford tool used for out trucks.
The only headache about building it is the orifice is an AN flair at 37º not the same as plumbing. I got it at a Parker
hydraulic supply. So you could also get the other needed fittings there also

Someone said something about the fuel pressure so I thought it might come in handy later on down the line.

I have seen that Sean, that is a good way to test. I do have a fuel pressure gauge installed on the truck.

I have to get the compression test adapter and then do a compression test. My gut feeling is either a glow plug dropped the tip or a lifter took a ****.

Well lets hope that it turns out to not be an expensive issue.

I'll be pulling the engine next weekend.

When you pulled the rocker, was the bridge sitting off the valve tip? I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a bent valve. Symptoms were running rough low compression and air blowing out the exhaust with a leak down test.

Before you pull the engine, crank the dead cylinder around to its top dead center on compression, hook up an air hose and apply compressor air. If the escaping air is coming out the crankcase, Pull the engine. If it is coming out the intake or exhaust, it is a valve and you only need to pull the heads.
