Bridges looked fine when I pulled it apart. Valves appear to be moving but this doesn't mean there isn't a bent valve after all.

I'll do that before I get to yanking a motor.

Just for future reference the 0.047 orifice in that fuel tester, will flow about 0.4 gallons of fuel at 60 psi

these guys adding a high flow fuel pump seems to be overkill -- I have not figured it, but would be curious what the fuel rate for a stock engine at full load would be

Congratulations.

I built my own stand. The majority of people have modified existing stands or built their own. For a single stand, you need 2,000lbs.

I used a regular engine stand, it my have been on the heavier side. I did put some blocking under the noise of the engine till I got the heads off to support the weight. After that I had no issues.

Buildup pretty much done.

The morning before it went back in.

I picked up an engine stand today - 2,000lb heavy duty stand from Harbor Freight. It was $107 + tax and thew that together this afternoon. I'll have to bring my dirty clothes into the shop tomorrow and try and get the engine hanging from the stand by tomorrow. Probably pull the passenger head and disassemble this weekend.

Yeah, that qualifies for a new bore. I feel your pain with the layers of discovery.

When you posted the video back in January it sounded like mine did when I lost a cylinder, bent valve, and scored cylinder wall. The skip was loss of compression.

Damn piston cracked right across the wrist pin, but it doesn't look like an object impacted the piston.

Chris, any smoke right before the failure. You mention EGT went high, like the injector tip cracked and went high fuel. But I don’t think that’s the primary failure.

I didn't notice any smoke before it let go. High egt was probably due to being down on 1 cylinder with the camper in tow. I'm hoping some muriatic acid will take the aluminum off the cylinder wall and that I can put a piston in it.

I'm almost wondering if I had an injector that was fueling a bit too much combined with the too hot of a tune for the trailer I was pulling caused the piston to crack. Thoughts?
