Death Wobble Poll?
#47
Update to the TSB 18-2268
So far absolutely zero wobble. Same highway driving, Denver to Colorado Springs, and Denver to Ft. Collins, zero death wobble. Very smooth, the truck drives great again.
caster set to L/F +2.8 R/F +2.4, adjust front toe +.04, R/F +.05.
On a side not they had to replace my sync APIM as well.
Dealer - "Ford covered the $428.37"
Me, no I prepaid 70k for Ford to fix it

2017 F-350, SRW, 4X4, towing package, no suspension mods, DW "Yes", while towing "YES." Hit a shallow pothole on a downhill grade doing about 55 mph. Wobble lasted a couple of seconds (seemed like minutes). Lucky there was no other traffic. Happened again several miles down the road exact same conditions. Never happened before, or since, 15,000 miles. Just thought it was a unique circumstance and never gave it another thought until reading this thread.

My 2012 did it twice on the original OEM tires, I can't remember what they were, I think maybe coopers, probably around about 8,000 miles when it happened? It was bad, but sometime before that I had been in an old work ford, probably early 90s with a dump bed and we were hauling a well loaded trailer. Got bad death wobble in that thing going down a hill and almost entirely lost control. I was in the passenger seat... I drove myself the next day. My boss switched the tires on that truck and it went away.
On my 2012 I replaced them with a set of maxis tires and it never happened again. However those maxxis tires wore down quick, and when I did have them replaced the tire guy said they were all worn down weird and wavy. The wranglers I replace those with were great. After all that I had a leveling kit installed, but I only had the wobble with the original tires. This is not all to say that I think tires fix the problem, in fact I think an underlying problem causes the tires in some cases to wear poorly and then the problem begins to show in the form of death wobble.
Also I will admit though the 2012 truck always drove kinda like a lumber wagon, loved it but not the nicest ride.
My 2018 rides like a dream, and I'm installing a leveling kit tomorrow. Hopefully I maintain that dream like ride. I think this is described in a Carli leveling kit thread in the 2017+ SD section but I think some people that are not satisfied with the ride quality of the truck added 2 deg of caster and were much happier... could be something to look into for those of you having issues, but I know this is a problem in just about any solid axle truck... not just ford.
