I have been seeing an increase in poll responses so here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1gsLpPSfg5kSuC8zcCDS3NXKUtcaGSDXEK9tLqBuI8AQ/viewanalytics is the latest results with more interactive capability (THANKS GOOGLE) and while these responses and any understanding of the data is subjective there are no claims for it to be anything other than responses from our forum members...
I think it is time to update the questionnaire to better understand the scope of DW so feel free to post questions that may help us better understand what we are dealing with. https://goo.gl/forms/S2Hr01HqVAqYmqy12
This problem has been around long before Ford went with the coil/5 link. It’s easy to find the WORE part. Just move the steering wheel back and forth. You’ll see the slop in your TRACK BAR BUSHING. I’ve been dealing with coil spring susplinsion for years,, 2001 Jeep TJ, 2009 Jeep Jk, 2005 F-250, and several F-250 work trucks, 90% fixed with new Track bar. It’s Just wore suspension items,, FORD isn’t going to maintain your suspension. It’s a wear item,,, the Alternitive is IFS, (Chevy)
Ford can easily resolve this problem. Just start using on highest quality components in 4wd live axle setups. Simple. They have to nail down the damned track bar. Period. They could source aftermarket track bars built pure beef. AND they can design the mount points to make these totally bulletproof. Then address drag link and all TREs on the panhard (tie rod) bar and ball joints. I guarantee Ford can stop this crap immediately. But they will not. Same reason they do not put LED lights in headlamps for all trim levels.

We can only report the issues to the NHTSA and keep the issue in the spotlight putting pressure on both FORD and the GOVT for action but sadly I think until someone gets hurt and makes the "cost vs risk" equation swing in favor of corrective action they (FORD) keep seeing this as a non issue or characteristic trait of the solid axle design. $35-85,000 trucks have this issue so it is not a matter of design changes between trim levels it is a basic design flaw that will get address (correctly) just a matter of when and how.
Will be interesting to see if the 2020 has the "same" DW issue (or maybe it has already been reported and I haven't seen it...)
My 2018 F350 4x4 power stroke has been in the death wobble 3 times . From 8,000 miles -18,000 period. Ford replaced shimmy shock 3 times during this period. I pull a 5th wheel ,went from Maine to Texas,at this point I was told before I left they had solved my problem. WRONG . In Texas for 2 months during this period experienced it again. Found a dealership in Grapevine TX. Service tech told me Ford had finally designed an over sized shock to replace the current one. Problem solved? No. They alone had 1,000 on back order, up to a two month wait. Being this is my only form of transportation, I couldn't wait. They had a fix but not covered under my warranty. Cost me over $500 they took the existing steering stabilizer system with the shimmy shock off and replaced with a two shock system. Finally a solution. Unfortunately it cost me $$ and took my truck out of warranty. I filed multiple complaints with the NTSB. Also found a class action law suit out against Ford for the problem. My very first wobble almost caused an accident at 65 mph. Ford has been very irresponsible with this whole issue. I'm not done with them yet. Some one is going to get killed.

Bigdog Glad YOU fixed your truck not so happy Ford did not... PLEASE let us know if you have any more problems with the new set up.
WHY do you say "took my truck out of warranty"?
Because you (actually Ford) installed a "steering stabilizer system" on your truck? There should be NO warranty issues because of the steering stabilizer install. Did the Ford Dealer tell you this? Thanks for any info and hope you are done "fixing" your DW issue!
Yes the dealership did the work, but told me in doing so it would take it out of warranty . I had little choice...
Im sure you know, but just so that its clear to others, replacing one component does not void the trucks entire warranty. Ford will not warranty the after market part obviously, although the manufacturer will.
Say the transmission starts having issues, or the Syc system starts glitching, or power window wont roll up etc., they cant say the aftermarket steering stabilizer caused it lol.
2018 F350 SRW CC LB 4x4. Yes have experience DW. Started at 30,000 mile and was getting worse as tires were waring down. Had the Michelins AT and were down to 4/32 at 35,000. Put new BF Goodrich KOA 2 on since then and put the Kelderman dual stabilizer on this morning. If I hit a rough spot on the road it would go in too DW at 60 mph or faster. Always on the edge driving it and I pull a trailer 30 percent of the time. I had enough of the DW so I put the Kelderman dual steering on this morning. I can already tell the difference.
Just had it fixed on my 2019. Gen 3 stabilizer installed at Ford. If this does not fix it then I will go after market. Happened 6 times in a period of 8,000 miles. Had the part on back order but never got a call so I stopped into Ford and they had 5 of them. Service writer said they are seeing roughly 25% of 2019 F250 and F350 with Death Wobble. As soon at 5,000 miles. They are able to see the wear easily to confirm. I could easily tell the difference when it was replaced. Never realized how loose the steering had gotten.

highest qaulity parts are made in small shops. no way could they produce near enough parts volume to be a oe supplier. fast, cheap and easy is what designers want. nothing is severly over built but rather walking the fine line of just barely good enough, . i like the way you think though. how cool would it be to have factory installed billet balljoints , chromoly axle shafts and brembo brakes

I hope the Gen 3 steering stabilizer woks out for you. Time will tell. I had a Gen 2 installed in October 2019 on my 2019 F-350 at 15k miles when the first Gen 2 failed and my truck Wobbled. That second Gen 2 went south in 3k miles at 18,000 miles. I called Ford Customer Care (which in ain’t) trying to get them to agree to pay for and install a FOX ATS stabilizer. They said, “No and if you do so you’ll void your warranty on the stabilizer and any other parts that become defective.” I’m confident that while they were unwilling to go the extra mile and step up to correct the dangerous condition that developed in THEIR truck, they will go that extra mile to blame anything that fails from here on out on the FOX stabilizer. I threw in the towel and $400 to buy the FOX ATS model 093-02-143 which the dealership in Yuma, AZ installed at no charge. The truck drives hugely better with tight and stable steering and NO DW. The safety of myself, my wife and other vehicles and people on the road far outweighed the cost of the FOX stabilizer. Ford didn’t see it that way which is a sad and sorry testament to their level of care.
As to the quality and longterm effectiveness of the OEM Gen 3 stabilizer, Ford truck owners will be the beta testers. I have no doubt of this given Ford’s track record on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 stabilizers.
Yeppers just wanted to clarify the warranty statement and I think it would be HARD for Ford to say ALL of your front end suspension parts are no longer under warranty but I hope no one has to fight that fight!!!
Duel SS is my next install as I too think the safety increase is well worth the $500...
