Top one Mike, Im 60% sure the filter housing will be culprit, like I mentioned on the previous post twice it did it and I had to really cranck the filter up. I just hate I have to open the cooling system.
Im using an e99 oil cooler end caps so I have a snap ring, looks like the guy was having similar cold hard starts hmmm....
Thanks Mike ill give it a shot when I get a chance.
FIXED!!!!
Ok forgot I had this thread with a inconclusive ending and actually found the culprit.
The problem ended up being a severely worn down LPOP cover the gears were in good shape, only one side of the cover was eaten away, the timing cover was spotless.
Got pictures?
I cant see a lpop causing the red to drain down since it has a check valve to prevent this.
Now what I could see is the lpo draining down and not feed the hpop properly causing a long start.
It goes deeper Mike I even highjacked a thread from someone else trying with the same proplem. Heres the thread
i started to post in the last 3 pages with pictures attached. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...reservoir.html

It looks like the crack caused the LPOP to run dry enough to ruin two of them

Maybe air from drained LPOP stays in HPOP reservoir, turn off motor and that trapped air has to go some where after it pushes out the oil
Adam, I was looking at the other thread you posted. I wish that guy had posted back what he found, but anyway, good on you for finding the issue with the LPOP. That certainly helps those of us that have this problem in the future. I sure wish there was a clearer answer on the grooves and how bad they can be for it to still pump. On Whitey, there were a couple of minimal grooves that I thought were the problem, but it turns out they were not, so who knows?
