The kicker is I got from here lol... From some well known character's lol.... Guess I could sell this pump and start looking for a "new HPOP" WAIT!!!! I think I have one in my parts vin. Hope its a 17° and not the 15° one. Its all good though it's just annoying every morning start.

Do you have the correct ipr installed ?
you could have had a issue with the check valve on the old engine

By correct IPR what do you mean? Like the one with screen? The check valve on the HPOP could be the problem.

Unfortunately I bought it for a 00 as the dealer didn't have one for my MY truck. I would of thought they were th same? Will the screen make difference?

I just bought the early one a few months ago. There's not a screen on mine. It's just a machined ridge in the edge. I don't really understand what it's supposed to do. I have a picture somewhere if I can find it. There is an IPR with a screen for the 6.0.

There was a recent thread here about the HPOP gasket change. But then, a thread here probably got you into this.

If you discover that pump is good and just won’t in fact work with the e99 cover pm I’d be interested in the pump

You sure? I thought that conversation led to needing the correct pump?!
I just know I wouldn't say it after having battled this issue as a pre-existing condition on my truck.

It led to stating I couldnt use the 96+ HPOP on the 94.5-95 but could use the 94.5-95 HPOP on the 96+ covers. No worries my HPOP was working fine just before the old mill started to pass coolant into the oil and the excess blow by thats when it started to drain overnight.

The one without the gear has SD fittings. If it truly is for a sd the it’s a 17*

As long as that one for the SD isn't an E99, it'll be a 17* HPOP. Adam I have a 15* off of my SD that was in good working order when I put the 17* on it. Let me know if you might need it. I'd let it go pretty cheap.

Seeing the old damaged one gives me the ******* from memories of that debacle.

I believe mine leaks down over night too. It will hunt up and down at idle for a few seconds before driving normally. I believe it to be the HPOP filling back up with oil. It got pretty bad and tossed a check engine light and would hardly run for a few minutes until I'm assuming it primed itself and came to life. Either way - I'm 800 miles from home and will be having the 0-rings checked, and if that won't do it, I'll put in a aftermarket pump. Good luck with yours
