So it isn't just CA. Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Deleware, Idaho, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Utah have some kind of emissions testing for our trucks. There are some exceptions in there and there are some other states that test only if you're GVWR is < 8500 lbs. I don't see this list getting smaller...just the opposite.
Az seems to be a "county" thing. Mohave is 1 that does not mandate it but your county that host Phoenix, does...i got a 5yr registered sticker on both rigs..Chet, throw in the towel, sell what you have and buy actoss the border
I am pretty sure the city of Atlanta and the counties it sits in test for emissions, but not rural or "country" type counties in GA. I hope it never comes here, but if it does I will more than likely just dip into our saving and get a 2015+ 6.7 Ford diesel and call it a day... I would not want to change my 7.3 truck from what it is and make it run worse just because some ******* that sits at a big desk tells me it ran better the day it came off the assembly line. My 8500 lbs truck get 18.5 MPG's and might do even better when I get the SXE installed... Do they really think that 20 years ago it was doing better...
Perhaps by then, our trucks will be grandfathered it or something. I know there are A LOT of diesel trucks around here that would not pass.
Hell, there is no way my 2002 Mercury Sable would pass an inspection, but it still gets the job done after 255,000 miles.
Yeah, some states go by county. Some have different test requirements depending on area as well.
Luckily SoCal is all in.
Nope, there are many counties/areas here in So Cal that are also smog exempt, mostly. I think all of them require smog to transfer a vehicle, then you're exempt from the biennial testing. There's also some middle ground areas that get a less intensive smog test.
Clean ur emails out..your bust'n at the seams...lol
heres my response...
exactly! They(az) uses whats called Tax filing to distinguish between resident or non resident. If you DONT file az taxes, your not a resident, subjected then to a 100.00yr watercraft/boat registering ontop of the actual stickers for registration and mussle use..i told her i guess my crafts will have CA stickers..unfortunitely, your getn hit with a luxury tax based on the city you live in. I got hit with same tax on my boat while in Yucaipa. Must be a San Berdo Co thing. Never got hit with luxury in Elsinore(riv co)

Try keeping your trailer in Ca and your boat in Az. I know guys that do this and have know problem. I don't know why you would either with property there. Call them up and have them look up your property taxes. Say the boat never leaves the state.
