Oh yeah, I replaced that IVR and the engine now shows 40 for oil pressure but temp never gets above 120 ish…...any ideas? Has a new sender. Maybe it's time for real gauges.
Temp gun the system to get a real temp and to see if it matches the gauge. What T state is in it? Go ahead and replace the sender anyway and while you are at it T in a set of aftermarket dash gauges.
Gauges are thoroughly kicking my behind.
have continuity, gauge pegs when grounded, bla,bla,bla...maybe it will fix itself? Fuel gauges are mostly dead but occasionally work...kinda. POOP!!!!!
Moving on out of frustration.
Problem: Shore is...….morons! However that aux tank is pretty dang thick on top and if that screw made it all the way into the fuel tank I cant tell. Might try to fill with epoxy and hope for the best.
Nother Issue: Now THIS I can fix !!!!!
One strap is rusted away and the inner is perfect....no prob. Fabbed a new one out of 3/16. Thanks god for plasma cutters and press brakes!
Still need to add some 1.0 to the sides but it beats buying one......what fun is that anyhow?
Ya know those days where ya can't weld for S#*t. Today was that day. I'm blaming it on old steel...…..only excuse I have. LOL
So that switch is to manually change from one tank to the other. I believe there should be a toggle switch (far L/H side of dash) to switch the gas gauge to read the tank you just manually switched to. On my 73 it is right below the headlight switch. Says main and aux on the bezel ring. Looking for a better pic.
Rich.....Yep, next thing to test. I'm going to order up new fuel senders cause "I'm Right Here". I was gonna do new gauges but came across them fancy Dakota one's. Doesn't really make sense to install that without a new harness so I might wait til winter. Worst can happen is I run out of gas occasionally.
Remember the rear one is just 13 gallons and you can run out faster than you think with a 4bbl V8. My gas gauge does not work...(on the long list to fix) and I only have the rear tank (removed the front, because it was smashed in, broke fill tube, rusty support). Even out on the rocks I have to keep in mind to ck it and top off when we take breaks. I am going to put some rock lights on it someday and use that switch for them.
Seriously...... there has got to be random short in the temp gauge or wiring ,there is nothing left.....I've thoroughly tested everything you can think of and researched my brains out.. I've come to the conclusion that it needs a new wire to and from and a new gauge.
I got to drive it to town and fillerup so I'm a happy camper.

Well you're driving the bronco before I'm driving my Highboy so at least you're making progress
fordification has schematics '67 - '72 ford trucks on line. There is a cloth covered sub-harness that runs the length of the bronk firewall area to rear bumper in my '70. It gets ratty, the inselation inside's brittle & wears thru (I mean c'mon now - 50, 60 yrs old?). However, my bet is a ground went bad. Ck the schematics'n do the hard thing...start tracin. U said ivr is good now? Sender'n gauge ck out OK? Time for the avoided...
Winter job....the avoided will be completely replaced. No avoiding it then....huh? Sender is correct and good and gauge tests good along with the correct amount of resistance in the wiring to and from. I have no dought the grounds are not in the best of shape but I just don't care that much about the problem right now. I gave it hell and lost....no biggy.
With that black half round cover, I am thinking T shift Dana 20 (the easier and better one too). And with that large cover added on, you have a floor 3 spd correct? 1st pic 3 spd on column and T shift xfer case. The problem I see you having it the dvrs side floor pan was replaced and put in ON TOP of the trans shifter cover (and tack welded) so that cover is not easily removable....
