Rich, i think you posted a link previously about the roll bar. I found one where someone made a cover that wrapped around the tube. Looked pretty nice but requires some space to pull it off.
Nicely shaped cover up tubes and to get a lower front cross tube I believe NO dash pad? And pretty sure I do not see an upper cross tube? I can see w/s wiper connecting arms, but no upper roll cage cross tube.
Rich, always room for improvement ya know. I just liked the way it hid the entrance to the dash.
On to the A/C fiasco. As we know there just isn't a whole lot of space. I contemplated removing the ramp/wedge on top of the firewall. Anyhow, I got it to fit for now. Remains to be seen if it needs to be remodeled in some way.
If I can just get 3 hoses through the gap on top, I should be all set.
On to the dash...I was test fitting and noticed the switches had a tab and were not quite going to fit flush with the dash so....modification to the original switch holes is necessary.
Got the stock light switch hole moved over to center above the vent hole. Off to paint. That part is NOT happening in my filthy cold shop.
Looks great, but where are the holes in the dash for the roll bar? You still going with the thru dash set up? Don't you hate the way the glove box hinge hdwr just hangs out underneath?
I'll make roll bar holes later. At least ya didn't notice that I welded the holes shut that hold the defrost vent in place. hahahahaha...aaaaaawwww crud!!!!!
i hate how good you are! Quit hogging all the skill and save some for the rest of us Looks great as always from you!
Oh and im very thankful for the knowledge and time you spent with me last summer! I definitely dont think I can every repay you! Just always in awe of what you can do
Dash is in, noticed right away that I left a few wires in the engine section that I wanted to bring down the driver side rather than pass. I cut at least 50 zip ties reworking the harness in it's original state and changing my mind a few times. Had to order an extra 6' of vent hose to have enough length.
The rear vent hoses did not fit over the top and I had to wrap one of the defrost hoses off to the right and then wrap around the front of the a/c box. It will fit and be fine but it's absurdly tight. If I ever do bodywork I will make the bulkhead a flat surface for sure. I probably should have modified the mounting plate to lower the housing an inch.
This project should move along a little faster now....it's been in the 40's lately. LOL
Actually I think the tubing space is there although the passenger side might be a little extra snug. LOL. If I could have avoided wrapping one flex ducts from the backside of the housing there would have been plenty of space.
I'm thinking over the summer I'd like to at least fashion the covers as that's really the money shot on whether it looks right or not. Not a good spot for a janky look for sure.
Good thing is once the wiring and ducts are in then I can access the path for the tube. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend.
Soooo, I'd like to put an access plate on the side of this and wouldn't it be awesome if it was flush. Welp, that, there is 16 gauge and my bead roller wont even put a dent in it. Dangit!!! So, I have a piece of alum I was thinking about cutting up and polishing for a cover....... Unless one of you bronco wizards knows where a premade weld in recessed frame with cover plate is available, HA!... me neither.
