Is this normal??

My 05 6.0 with 54,000 miles, when sat overnight starts fine but cold idle sounds different than when it's at normal operating temps. Is it normal?
6.0 is new to me so not used to to it yet. Thanks.

Might be something as simple as the turbo veins sweeping at start up.

I can tell you mine is louder - more "clattery" on cold start. But that is about it - and it isn't all that quieter when warm... Can you better describe what difference you are hearing?

When I first start the truck up is starts up right away but until around oil temp 100 the noise starts to change back to normal. No rough idle or misfire.

Mike I can tell you what a 97K mile truck sounds like, It's much
quiter now that I own it and am driving it so that oil gets moving
instead of sitting in some shed.

Anyway The OP could shoot a video and post the Youtube link here
and that way we know what the sound is really like,

Please give us at least 30 seconds of video. More would be better if you
have the time. Cold to warm if you really have some time. Also once it
started get the phone or video device under the hood near the turbo.
